It doesn't really come, what they are offering is very low, we can't receive cash payments as merchants, we can only use it to make purchases and not receive I.e business to business transactions

It's still much of a relief as it is now. Mind you, it's a gradual process.

This is why I am not impressed by their presence. First they are not coming with a much viable plan for all to benefit. They are limiting the use in Nigeria? Then why are you coming in the first place?

I wished all banks in Nigeria had agreed to partner with local developers in creating similar structure like Paypal then you'll see if Paypal will make sure a lapses to think we are not up to their standards

They need us more than we need them.

Ever wondered why they seem "too careful" dealing with Nigerians?

I think our focus should be on rectifying our "damaged" image.
If we can fix that, they would have a Nigerian office asap

Warm Regards,

Local investors should study the paypal model and bring up a solution/setup that competes with it.

We cant be pushovers and consumers all the time.

If anyone know of such that already exists , please share ,would love to read more about it.

There are lots of local solutions already, the problem is
international acceptability.

@BrowseDotCom thanks for that specifics "in the long run" however Paypal is still in the short run so they have specified if that feature will be available

I don't know why they are only offering "send money" servicesa to pay for goods and services @ Paypal-enabled merchant sites while safeguarding their financial details. So peer-to-peer transactions are not permitted yet. So that means local merchant business like us, cannot receive payment through Paypal (so sad)

What's the point again some ask - its a brand

I can certainly reason with Paypal's skepticism in enabling p2p payments.
We recently enabled international payment on one of our platforms for airtime vending.
That same day some of our very own Naija boys signed up and made purchases of over N20k wit foreign cards.
With this development, we had to disable the foreign card option to prevent unintended results.

Recently, someone used a local card belonging to someone else to purchase airtime, and in less than 12 hours a complaint came in about card fraud.
Truth is, this happens in other countries but the rate of occurrence here is simply alarming.

Technology now has made the world a global village. I don't believe anyone has a monopoly of space or country. Know your stuff and scale through , if they do not come we will not wake up to what can be done. So their coming is good, rather than complaining let's move with the tide and do something. It create competition and brings out our potentials. Let's work hard more and make use of our advantage (knowledge of the terrain) #justatot

Someone developed such solution. i believe we can develop ours. we should stop talking about local apps. our apps are internationally recognized. i love naija.
