Hi folks,
Trust everyone is doing great.
My name is Adéṣínà Ayẹni a.k.a Ọmọ Yoòbá. I am a cultural heritage promoter and digital inclusion advocate with many years of experience in language documentation and archiving.
I will be hosting a campaign with series of workshops between April and May (with 21st of May being the most important) and I would love to have a website developer join the virtual conference as a speaker or contributor. A representative of UNESCO’s International Decade of Indigenous Languages (IDIL) from their headquarters in France will also be part of the session.
The goal of these workshops is to actively challenge the marginalisation of over 6,000 languages that currently do not have access to URLs and email addresses in their own scripts. Beyond advocacy, this is a technical and design challenge, and your expertise as a developer is crucial.
We aim to promote true universal accessibility of the Web, where all languages are fully integrated into domain names (both top-level and second-level domains). Imagine a web where we can have “ọ̀yọ́.ìpínlẹ̀” instead of “oyo.state”, or “chidị@nkọwa.òtù” instead of “ch...@nkowa.org”—this is the future we are working towards.
This is an opportunity to:
contribute to inclusive internet infrastructure
engage with global stakeholders and policy conversations
be part of a movement shaping the future of multilingual digital identity
Kindly reach out to me if this is something you would like to be part of..and I will provide you with full details of the campaign.
Thank you.
