              Hello Everyone,
I recently came across a third party Android emulator GenyMotion that run faster and smoother than the SDKs, It also boots faster via Oracle's VirtualBox. However, it has some quirks, i tried to connect from my app to a Web Service on my Linux machine, but no luck ... then i googled for some possible work around but i found none. Perhaps anyone in here has encountered the same issue on a different OS maybe. I've really grown to like GenyMotion Emulator, why you ask ? It runs faster than my device!

Hey @Jide,

I just started using GenyMotion yesterday and as you said...IT'S FAST.

As for connecting to a webservice on your local machine, here's my experience. I tried to start a GenyMotion emulator without a network connection on my PC and I got an error about the Virtual Box... not being able to assign an IP address (I can't remember the exact words)...SO I switched on my wifi and logged on to my network.

After the emulator started, I noticed that the IP address on my machine was different from the IP address on my emulator. Then I tried accessing my local machine's webserver using the IP address (and not just localhost or 127.0.0.1) and it worked.

hope that helps

          Hi @dhapo,
RESOLVED ! I used "10.0.3.2" To my knowledge, the localhost ip (127.0.0.1) doesn't work with the android emulator itself, Since 10.0.2.2  seems to do the trick, i thought maybe this could be used for GennyMotion as well.
