When you take the Duolingo English Test your results come within 48 hours. They are reported on a scale of 10 to 160, going up in multiples of 5. The scores are designed to be aligned with the Common European Framework of Reference international standard of language proficiency.
When you get your results it comes in the form of the Duolingo English Test Score Report. This can be used to demonstrate your English proficiency and to understand where you need to improve if you need to take a retest.
The report shows where you are on the scale for each section of the test as well as your overall score. The report includes what date you took the test with a unique URL to prove the Duolingo English Test validity. This is useful when you submit your results to the institutions you are applying to.
It is also a good idea to check before booking your test that the institution you wish to attend will accept the Duolingo English Test, otherwise, you may need additional evidence of your proficiency before you will be accepted.
Due to the pandemic, not all students and aspirants planning to study abroad could go to offline centers and take exams such as IELTS and TOEFL. As an alternative, many universities started accepting duolingo english test scores as one of the English proficiency tests that can be taken from anywhere. There are five sections on the Duolingo test scorecard: Overall, Literacy, Comprehension, Conversation, and Production. All of these sections assess a test taker's ability to read and listen on a scale of 10 to 160.
Universities happily accept students with a score of 7 or more in IELTS, 86 or more in TOEFL, and at least a B2 grade point in CEFR. So, a good Duolingo test score is 110 and above. Anything above 120 is an excellent Duolingo exam score.
The Duolingo test score is valid for two years once the results have arrived. As discussed earlier, a test taker may get their result within a stipulated time of 48 hours via their email, or they can directly check them on the Duolingo English website.
Duolingo English test is quite affordable and is priced at $49. The Duolingo English test scores are made available in 48 hours to the test takers at the mailing address used at the time of registration for the test.

If an applicant in an English-Speaking curriculum has taken a traditional English proficiency exam (i.e., TOEFL, IELTS or DET), they are encouraged to submit the results to support their demonstrated English ability.

Please be aware: Score results must be from a test taken within the past two years. If self-reported scores are used at time of application review, official scores must be provided if the student is admitted and accepts their admission offer. Official test scores must be received directly from the testing organization. Applicants are required to submit all the standardized test results indicated on their application. Meeting the minimum English proficiency score does not guarantee admission. A student's complete application is holistically reviewed before a decision is made.
English proficiency test results may be used for English course placement upon enrollment. Students admitted without a formal English proficiency exam (i.e., DET, IELTS, or TOEFL) may be subject to an English placement exam upon enrollment.

The exam may be taken from any computer that has a camera, audio and reliable internet connection. The exam portion of the Duolingo English test contains a series of speaking, reading, writing and listening exercises. Following the exam there will be an interview portion that will ask you to respond to various prompts in 30 to 90 seconds. The exam will take about 45 minutes to complete, and you will need either a passport, driver license, or national or state ID to show the camera. The score results are generally received within a few days of exam completion.

The Duke University Graduate School is registered to receive electronic IELTS scores using the IELTS Results Service E-Delivery. Please send scores via e-delivery by selecting the "Duke University Graduate School" option.
If you do not see an option for electronic scores when using "Duke University Graduate School " as the Institution on the request form, try using "Duke University" as the Institution and "Graduate School" for the Department. The process for selecting e-delivery recipients may be slightly different depending on the organization administering the IELTS test. All admitted international students whose first language is not English are required to take placement exams conducted by the English for International Students program at the beginning of the term of matriculation, even if the TOEFL/IELTS/Duolingo English Test requirement is waived (see below). Depending on the exam results, students are either exempted from or placed into EIS courses.
While a passing English proficiency test score is the only absolute way a student can meet the English language proficiency requirement, we may consider waiving the English proficiency test requirement if a student has completed one of the following:

Please be aware that the Institutional TOEFL is a standardized exam. This means that each section of the exam - listening, structure, and reading - has time limits set by the testing company, Educational Testing Service (ETS). These time limits will not change. The listening section is on a CD and runs about 35 minutes for 50 questions, the structure section is 40 questions in 25 minutes, and the reading portion is 50 questions in 55 minutes.
