Most riders that ride the State St trail also know about and ride the Valley St trail. If you don't, it is one-tenth mile east (uphill) from the bottom of the current trail.
What some riders have not discovered is the new extension to the Valley St trail. After riding almost the entire trail and on the way out, take the sharp uphill to the left just after the benched area and large tree but before the ditch. I call this new section "Hidden Valley" because the reaction I have heard is "wow" about the remoteness of the trail near downtown Lafayette.
From the State St trailhead out and back is now about 5 miles.
Since most riders do both trails, I reworked the bottom of the State St trail so that the turn-around is now the parking lot, and blue riders do not go a different way depending on whether they are going away or returning. It should be much easier to follow for new riders.
The trailhead is at 920 E State Street in Lafayette. New riders are required to sign a liability form before riding.
