With some volunteer help, the final addition for the season has been made to the Valley Street section of the Haan trail. At the first turn around the trail goes directly to the Hidden Valley section. The return leg of the first section is ridden after returning from the Hidden Valley section. When you get to the spot where the first turn around is, go left up the sharp rise. The old trail is still in place so you can still use the turn around.
The Purdue Outdoor Club had about 15 members come on Sunday for trail cleanup. We worked on the "landfill" end and ended up with two pickup loads of metal going to recycling at Winski's and one load of trash going to the transfer station. I still have to dispose of the 13 tires they collected (I have already disposed of 25 tires) and one washing machine. In addition, they removed a significant amount of brush from the landfill area. Some members policed other parts of the trail picking up glass and trash.. Overall it was a really good day and with some fill and vegetation it will now be pleasant to ride through that section. We came back to our house at the end of the session for pizza they supplied and some riding on the section of trail behind our house.
We want to thank the outdoor club for their hard work. .Ellie and I (and I'm sure all of the trail riders) really appreciate all that they did.
