1. First, it was written 25 years ago when she was a teenager, years before she developed her skills as a novelist. It lacked character development, description, and a strong point of view.

Finally, this client took a deep breath and vowed to give the manuscript a long-overdue rewrite. It was a sequel to a young adult sports novel published in 1992 that still sold copies daily, and readers kept asking her if there was a second book.

I made a long list of every possible task I could think of and arranged it in an order that made sense so that I could redraft the novel. Then I dug into my messy manuscript and revised one item at a time.

If you are a fan of motion pictures such as The Cinderella Story, The Princess Diaries, What a Girl Wants and many more of this genre type, I am certain Tilly Maguire and the Royal Wedding Mess will be sure to appeal. This book taps into the fantasies of many teens, such as new careers, romance, glamour and the celebrity world. I think the author, Emma Grey, is aware of these workable elements and has inserted them within her appealing novel, which is actually an offshoot of her previous novel Unrequited.

Emma Grey is a mother to not just one, but two teen daughters. This means that she implicitly knows what makes teen minds tick. She is in touch with the dreams, fantasies and hopes of a typical teenage girl living in modern times. I think this shines through her novel. There is a real here and now feel to Tilly Maguire. Grey launches into the influence of social media. She also takes a glimpse into some mental health issues that may plague our teens. These points include self doubt, confidence, anxiety and resiliency. Grey seems to have it covered, so her book is both relevant and relatable.

In Silence, nobody is Christ but Christ himself. Everyone else is a Peter or a Judas, a faltering rejecter, for whom there may be hope anyway. What Scorsese has accomplished in adapting End\u014D\u2019s novel is a close reminder that the path to redemption lies through suffering, and that it may not be I who must save the world so much as I am the one who needs saving.
