I have just bought a Sony Xperia L4 and I have a question that I hope somebody can please answer for me. Basically, after watching some reviews on the Xperia L4 on YouTube, the biggest gripe with the L4 seems to be that the operating system runs with Android 9. Where as most other android phones up until recently run with Android 10. And I also believe that Android 11 has recently been released as well.

So my question Is please, what will be the disadvantages of running Android 9 rather than Android 10? Does It really matter? And also, does anybody know or have any Info If there are any future plans for Sony to update the L4 to Android 10 sometime In the near future?

I've also been In contact with Sony customer services this morning and they confirmed that there will not be any updates to android 10 for the Xperia L4. They did however also confirm that security and other Important updates will be available. But what they couldn't tell me was for how much longer. But as the L4 sells for such a low price, I don't think for me personally It's a problem

I believe security patches continue to roll out on devices for 2 years and then they stop. And for being on Android 9, issues could start to appear later with third party apps when they start not supporting older android versions so you will start to have a range of incompatible apps that you can use , but with these devices i believe that'll happen after a while.

But as I've only just got the Sony Xperia L4, I've now decided to send It back and buy another budget priced phone Instead. The phone that I'm looking at now Is the Samsung Galaxy A41. It runs on android 10 and has got many good reviews considering It's price.

I realise for you, the Android downgrading is a pre-condition for Sailfish X installation (arguably, more official help could be provided with that), but with things as they are, maybe the Android ROM side of things is better covered by e.g. here?

@Que
First ran into problems using Flashtool with Xperia 10 I3113 as there is only an .fsc for I4113 Dual Sim in devices database hence had to use NewFlasher, which is the way to go for newer devices.

I would also say the simplest way to downgrade is to use official Emma Tool from Sony.
@Kalipus: When Emma not working for you - i would first solve this problem. Because all other solutions would be not so straightforward and easy like Emma.
So, downgrade with Emma and than flash sailfishos. Maybe try Emma on another computer?

Hi
I have an Xperia 10 Dual SIM model I4113.
Could you give me a reliable link to a valid ROM (Android 9)?
I have the same issue and need to downgrade to Android 9 from 10.
Note that I am a Linux user and will follow your instruction with newflasher.
Best regards

Hi
It works perfectly!
Great instructions
I would just add that Emma must be downloaded from sony developper website and no from sonymobile.com otherwise a login/password is required
Thanks for all

Hi,
I managed to downgrade my xperia 10 plus. Just google it, there are loads of YouTube videos and links on the net on how to do it. It was quite easy. But you wont be able to go back to 10 easily enough.

Yesterday i updated my Sony Xperia XZ to the 7.1.1 version of android nougat. Previously I didn't had any problems with my internet connection except some wifi problems because i wasn't able to connect to my own wifi router (other phones can do that but my not) and i still have that problem after update , but after that update i can't even connect to mobile data so away from home im basically without any connection to internet..

I have had my Experia phone for several years but only now have experienced the inability to get internet service. Because of it, since June I have not been receiving email messages, not able to upgrad some of my apps, etc. My IT folks at work have told me I need to take it to an expert who can see what has gone wrong with the phone. Usually, my own IT folks have been able to solve any problem I've brought to them but not this time. Seems like something went wrong with this capacity of the phone at some point.

I'm trying to repurposed my Sony Xperia Z3 Compact into a lcd display project. In order to proceed, I would like to mod my Xperia phone so that the phone will automatically turn on when charger turn ON. I search around and found some script like -power-on-android-when-the-charger-is-connected and some people mentioned that I should mod chargemon file. But when I replace this file, my phone cannot boot into the system.

While checking the file, I notice that there 2 file chargemon and another is chargemon.stock. attached here chargemonfile . Actually this file have been edited during rooting process which I get it from xda forum -developers.com/z3-compact/general/recovery-root-mm-575-lb-t3418714

So im thinking, I shouldn't replace this file entirely but just add another line of code. Now, if anyone have experience regarding this maybe can share some input or help me modify the existing script.
