iam not able to update my firmware i am getting the network issues it is not detecting the sim card and continuously searching for signal and I reached the authorised service centre they are restoring the software and i am facing the same issue

Go to Settings/General/About and look at Modem Firmware. Is the entry blank? If it is you need to reinstall it by restoring the phone to factory settings, then restoring a backup. Back up the phone first, of course:

If the modem firmware DOES have a value you may have a hardware problem. The first step is what I just posted, but after that you need to contact Apple support using the Get Support link at the top of this page.

After I updated my iPhone Xr to ios 16.2, my modem firmware went missing, and now I'm having cellular issues always searching for network but never gets) and IMEI doesn't show up when dialing *#06#. Is there a real easy solution to restore the modem firmware?

Stop copying and pasting the steps that didn't solve the problem, because it's been tried many times and it's useless to fix existing problems, the firmware modem on this iPhone Xr has missing after the iOS update, and it hasn't come back even though I've restarted and reset.

iPhone 8 - 14 Series: Quick tap vol + and - and hold power while device is off, hold volume down without releasing power for 5 seconds, release power button while holding volume down button for 5 seconds

iPhone 13 , my modem firmware went missing, and now I'm having cellular issues always searching for network but never gets and IMEI doesn't show up when dialing *#06#. Is there a real easy solution to restore the modem firmware?

See if performing an update installs any of this went-missing firmware. Have a Computer Handy? If so, try using a computer to update. Go here: Update your iPhone Using a Computer - User Tip. If any updates are availabe, they will install, sure enough.

My ISP (RCN) is telling me they don't push out firmware updates to customer owned equipment. How can I update my firmware if you don't support a method for an individual to perform the operation? My firmware is V1.02.04. The latest I see in the list for my hardware is V1.03.01 (Comcast). The oldest I see under the "other ISP" category is V1.02.14. That's still seriously behind. Being that far behind on firmware could seriously make me vulnerable. Netgear should not let the ISP have control over this function.

And they DID do something about it. The newst CAX80 was made powerful enough they could seperate out the modem/router firmware so the router portion is updatable. But not the modem side. That's all controlled by the isp.

That's a rich solution. And I do mean rich... $400+ for the router and another $100+ for the modem. I was just looking for a generic firmware solution and possibly a company that stands behind its products. Bye Bye Netgear

A collection of security flaws in the firmware implementation of 5G mobile network modems from major chipset vendors such as MediaTek and Qualcomm impact USB and IoT modems as well as hundreds of smartphone models running Android and iOS.

"5Ghoul vulnerabilities may be exploited to continuously launch attacks to drop the connections, freeze the connection that involve manual reboot or downgrade the 5G connectivity to 4G," the researchers said in a study published today.

The vulnerabilities were disclosed by a team of researchers from the ASSET (Automated Systems SEcuriTy) Research Group at the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD), who also previously uncovered BrakTooth in September 2021 and SweynTooth in February 2020.

"The attacker does not need to be aware of any secret information of the target UE e.g., UE's SIM card details, to complete the NAS network registration," the researchers explained. "The attacker only needs to impersonate the legitimate gNB using the known Cell Tower connection parameters."

Notable among the 14 flaws is CVE-2023-33042, which can permit an attacker within radio range to trigger a 5G connectivity downgrade or a denial-of-service (DoS) within Qualcomm's X55/X60 modem firmware by sending malformed Radio Resource Control (RRC) frame to the target 5G device from a nearby malicious gNB.

Patches have been released by both MediaTek and Qualcomm for 12 of the 14 flaws. Details of the two other vulnerabilities have been withheld due to confidentiality reasons and are expected to be disclosed in the future.

"Finding issues in the implementation of the 5G modem vendor heavily impacts product vendors downstream," the researchers said, adding that "it can often take six or more months for 5G security patches to finally reach the end-user via an OTA update."

I just purchased a Verizon U620L modem and cannot get it to work with my SOTG. I have learned that I need to download a firmware upgrade for the SOTG and apply it before the U620L will work. Where can I find the firmware upgrade and how do I apply the upgrade to the SOTG? I am not technical so I need instructions for a dummy.

I have a customer that has an SOTG and despite loading the latest firmware (1.0.29) and following the suggested modem configuration, he simply cannot get the U620L modem to work. It will connect to the Verizon network, acquire an IP address, then after a few minutes, drop the connection and go through the authentication process again, acquire a new IP address, work for a few minutes then repeat!! The SOTG works just fine with an ATT modem but the customer wants to use his unlimited Verizon data account.

No apparently the customer has no problems using the modem with his MacBook. And the disconnect/re-authorization/reconnect sequence occurred simply when browsing websites, he was not doing anything as data intensive as steaming movies

The modem only shows two LEDs, and according to the Verizon manual the modem is working properly as shown by the LEDs. Also to reiterate when the modem is plugged into the MacBook the customer has no problem communicating via the Verizon network and the modem does not keep dropping connectivity

The Baseband manages all the functions which require an antenna. The baseband processor has its own RAM and firmware in NOR flash, separate from the ARM core resources. The baseband is a resource to the OS. The Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are managed by the main CPU, although the baseband stores their MAC addresses in its NVRAM.

All iPhones have a baseband, and iPhone baseband is essentially the cellular modem firmware that is on your iPhone. Specifically, baseband includes the low level software that is running on the iPhones cellular modem hardware, the combination of which allows the iPhone to connect to a cellular network to send and receive data, phone calls, and transmissions.

Additionally, baseband is also what keeps the device locked to the intended carrier, in the USA, this is commonly AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, Sprint, and some smaller other carriers. Buying an unlocked iPhone would not have that baseband lock, for example.

The No-Modem is a technical powerhouse within the iPhone 14 Pro Max, intricately connected to the chip responsible for modem firmware. Apple Gadgets Care emerges as the go-to solution for addressing these intricate issues. With skilled technicians with a proven track record, Apple Gadgets Care ensures a quality service experience.

Firmware is the software programmed into your modem that makes it run. Firmware is updated periodically to add new features and keep modems performing their best. Updates are done automatically through the CenturyLink network, so as a rule you never have to think about it. However, if your modem isn't working properly, you can check to make sure the firmware is fully up to date by logging into the modem settings.

15. Once the upgrade is complete, you will be taken back to the main Modem GUI Login screen. Wait 2-5 minutes for the DSL and internet lights on the modem to turn green before trying to browse to a webpage to test that your connection is good.
