All the dress-up playsets and the slime eggs contain levels of certain phthalates that exceed the federal phthalate standard. In addition, the Litti City teacher purse dress-up playset, the Litti Pritti handbag playset, and the slime eggs contain levels of lead that exceed the federal lead content ban. Lead and phthalates are toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.
Students in this course will build upon the concepts covered in Introduction to Early Childhood. This careers and education course allows students to follow the development of the child through the preschool years by studying the theories and practices of childcare and preschool education. Other topics may include health and safety, proper nutrition, family challenges, and special needs. This course exposes students to a variety of teaching approaches designed to stimulate the young child in the student run laboratory preschool. Students will explore careers related to children and their care.
West Hartford children who live in the Conard district who are 2 to 5 years old. Each toddler and preschooler is assigned to a Conard student as a primary caregiver for each of the class periods which occur during the preschool day.
Curriculum is developmentally appropriate and connects to the West Hartford expectations for Kindergarten. The Early Childhood students will plan and facilitate lessons that encourage physical, intellectual, emotional and social development in fun, engaging ways. Class size is limited to 20 children to ensure adequate individual and cooperative experiences for each child.
Children's Place at State Ed., located in the State Education Building, is conveniently located in downtown Albany offering priority enrollment to all State employees. The community at large may also enroll. The Center is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. The Center is licensed to serve 68 children. The Center offers developmentally appropriate programs designed for infants, toddlers, and preschool children and offers school-age summer camp to children ages six to 11.
