In a flourish of creative energy, TRIP is busy putting the finishing touches on several premieres for "SYNERGY" at the beautiful, outdoor FORD Amphitheatre on Saturday, September 23rd at 8 p.m.

The evening features brand new work from Artistic Director Monica Favand (for TRIP) and Regina Klenjoski (for Regina Klenjoski Dance Company) set to original music by Charlie Campagna, Moira Smiley and Ron Bartlett that will be performed LIVE by the amazing TRIP Music Ensemble and Moira Smiley & VOCO!

23 dancers and musicians are involved in this one night only performance!

What we are making: TRIP Dancers Shannon Harris, Andriana Mitchell, Denesa Chan, Tomas Tamayo, Taryn Wayne are working with Favand to create three new works:

"Tether" set to a dynamic score for guitar, bass, cello, percussion and vocals by Ron Bartlett features exciting contemporary movement with tremendous stretch and snap. "Tether" is based on the idea that we humans are all in this together - that everything we do in this world  affects everything and everyone else.  The ending section takes us to Neptune, a kinder, gentler place where people are naturally on the same wavelength. Oh...if only!

"Shadows & Light," to music by Moira Smiley about the push and pull between the pessimist and optimist that can exist in one mind features a duet performed and choreographed by Monica Favand and Taryn Wayne with costumes by Andriana Mitchell. The audience will experience the magnificent voices of VOCO rushing in from side to side in real stereo!

"Equinox" features joyous couples dancing combining Brazilian rhythms and folk dance patterns from Malaysia set to rocking new music for percussion, voice and guitar by Charlie Campagna.

SACRED SPACES WORKSHOP RETURNS

PLEASE NOTE:  WE HAVE ONLY 2 WORKSHOPS THIS MONTH!

Thursday, September 14th
and Thursday, September 28th, 7:45 - 9:30 p.m.
235 Hill Street, Church in Ocean Park, Santa Monica

A huge thank you to our Sacred Spaces Workshop family for making last season, our seventh year of workshops, a truly special year!  We enjoyed meeting all of the new people who came through, and had a tremendous amount of fun our last month during all of our guest musician and "theme" weeks - which we plan to do more of in the coming months.

Our fundraiser workshop for victims of the recent Earthquake in Java raised over $450 which was sent to help families there with basic needs and to help re-build a historic dance/music school. Thank you for your contributions.

- THANK YOU FROM THE ENTIRE TRIP FAMILY!
