Prof. Arvidson found some great information about events at some local engineering departments (UCLA, USC, CalTech). Please see below.

Subject: Engineering Websites
Hi Jayesh,
Here are the engineering websites for USC and UCLA: http://viterbi.usc.edu/ http://www.engineer.ucla.edu/
The 'Events Calendar' on the USC website lists multiple lectures and activities practically each day! Quite a few look interesting. The 'Keynote Lecture Series' has about 10 individually named lecture series....most lectures appear to occur once per year. Glanced at the Munushian lecture series, and noticed that over the years the lecture has been given by a string of Nobel Laureates in Physics! Other lecture series seem to have distinguished speakers from around the country as well.
Unless I missed something, the UCLA school of engineering has a much shorter list of events for the coming semester: http://www.engineer.ucla.edu/events/current-events
Here's an interesting set of lectures in the Environmental Science and Engineering department at Caltech: http://www.ese.caltech.edu/seminars
Happened to look on the Engineering and Applied Science (EAS) website for Caltech http://ee2.caltech.edu/ and noticed that professor P.P. Vaidyanathan was recently selected to receive the IEEE 'signal processing society education award'.
