Anthony Bourdain passed away in June 2018. But his adventures, food, and words of wisdom live on. Bourdain was a world-class chef. But he also inspired us to live intently and experience parts unknown.
Updated on October 19, 2021, by Hannah Saab: With more viewers discovering or rewatching Bourdain's award-winning series, opinions and ratings on IMDb have drastically changed. Seven episodes have bumped down previous entries in IMDb's list, which tell different stories and highlight narratives from parts of the world like Portugal and Tokyo. As more people seek out Bourdain's best works, Parts Unknown continues to be among the most popular travel and food shows that offer audiences a truly unique viewing experience.
Each episode was thought-provoking, entertaining and enough to get your stomach grumbling. For a quick primer on which episodes of Parts Unknown to revisit first (or start with, if you've never seen the show), here are six of my favorites:
In June, the world lost someone who expanded our minds and pushed us to explore. The late Anthony Bourdain made our mouths water and our imaginations run wild by spotlighting farflung cuisines, cooking methods and cultural traditions from NYC to parts of Asia and beyond. Thankfully, his excellent food and travel television series, Parts Unknown, lives on, and new episodes are coming our way.
As we explore the theme of Adventure this June, we want to take a moment to remember a man who shared so many incredible adventures with us. Anthony and his zest for both cuisine and kinship will be forever missed. And his legacy will remain as we find our own ways to explore parts unknown.
