to LACC English courses w/O'Connell
Hersh, S. (2004, May 20). Torture at the Abu Ghraib retrieved from
http://www.newyorker.com/archive/2004/05/10/040510fa_fact.

1) The one thing I Liked was the fact that a woman had become in
charge of a prison in Abu Ghraib and the fact that even though she
didn’t have experience she went ahead and took the job. Taking a job
that you are not familiar with can be difficult and can take a lot of
time to adjust and learn the process of how it works but she was able
to go head first.
2) The article speaks of Karpinski being suspended after doing an
interview with the times, after her suspension accusations were being
made. I didn’t like the things that these military men/women were
doing to the teenagers, men and women that were detained in the jail.
Its wrong to just torture people because there were bored or whatever
reason they might have had. It doesn’t matter, no one need to be hurt
for no reason, it wrong and unlawful.
3) I would like to know more about Karpinksi and why she was suspended
after an interview and why the people in the jail were being tortured.
