Dear LAC-CORE members
We are writing you the members to initiate the remobilization of LAC-
CORE in order to sustainably advance the organization, and to thank
you for your continuing support.
Remobilization is now possible in part due to a higher level of
commitment from the American Council On Renewable Energy (ACORE)
initiated by a sincere expression of interest within the new
department of energy. As it stands now, the staff working on the
behalf of LAC-CORE is in the process of adding content to our website
www.lac-core.org and engaging in activities that will aid the
development of LAC-CORE as a sustainable, independent organization.
As a current board member of LAC-CORE and ACORE, it is gratifying to
see the emerging international socio-economic approach to energy
opportunities in the Latin America/Caribbean region. This interest has
further strengthened LAC-CORE as a valuable asset in the renewable
energy sector. Additionally, President Obama’s platform of promoting
development through international partnerships, sustainability,
renewable energy, efficiency, education and healthcare are all linked
directly or indirectly to the mission of LAC-CORE.
Our goal of this letter is five fold;
1) Re-establish communication with our members in order to promote the
exchange of information.
2) Gather information about the current activities and progress of our
members concerning the field of renewable energy and efficiency.
3) Consult with you regarding the future of LAC-CORE and any contacts
or leads that might prove valuable in the development of this
important organization.
4) Seek advice from our members and our board regarding the services
and programs expected from LAC-CORE in the future.
5) Work with you in the development of a database providing
comprehensive information regarding incentives and policies that
promote renewable energy on a country to country basis.
Our short term objective is to release a newsletter to our current and
potential members, in order to gain greater visibility. We also would
like further input regarding opportunities for increased activity in
the region that will promote renewable energy and energy efficiency.
Finally, we are committed to constructing grant proposals to fund LAC-
CORE activities in moving forward. The initial focus will be in
support of incorporating a growing number of LAC-CORE nations into
Database of State Incentives for Renewable Energy (DSIRE), a program
that quantifies, on a state by state basis, initiatives, program and
policies conducive to the advancement of renewable energy in the US.
States.
If you would like to become more involved in LAC-CORE, send us any
information regarding your recent activities in the sector.
Additionally we would appreciate valuable renewable energy information
that could be used in our forthcoming newsletter, contacts that would
be interested in active participation in LAC-CORE would be
appreciated. Please send your information to; Max Marshall at
mmar...@acore.org. If you have any questions or concerns, do not
hesitate to contact Max by phone;
(202) 507-4636.
We look forward to hearing from you,
Sincerely,
Bill Holmberg
