Error when installing labscript

Hi All,

I have been trying to install Labscript on my laptop, but unfortunately am running into the following error:

ERROR: Failed building wheel for labscript-c-extensions Failed to build desktop-app labscript-c-extensions

ERROR: ERROR: Failed to build installable wheels for some pyproject.toml based projects (desktop-app, labscript-c-extensions)

I am not entirely sure how to resolve this error, so any help would be appreciated!

You shouldn't need to be building wheels from scratch, as we pre-build many of them. What platform are you using (win-64, osx-arm64, etc) and what version of python are you using? I don't believe we have pre-built support for python 3.12 in all components yet, and I know we don't have osx-arm64 for instance. This could also be a result of us not releasing compiled extensions with numpy v2 support (yet). A more complete traceback may elucidate exactly what the error is.

If you are set on version of python and platform, building wheels isn't overly difficult, but it does require extra steps such as installing the appropriate compiler for your system and version of python.
