Issue on installing labscript suite

Hi all,

I am a new user of labscript-suite. I followed the instructions on their websites to install it. However, I got stuck in the last few steps of creating the labscript profile with an existing file error. Any information is appreciated.

It appears someone has installed labscript on this computer before. Right now, the install script is fairly simple and will largely error if an existing profile directory already exists. Have you inspected the directory mentioned in the error message? You could back it up somewhere else, delete the 'labscript-suite', and try to create the profile again. Use caution though. If the profile already exists and you are on a shared computer, you are likely trying to overwrite someone else's installation which is not likely to be a good idea.

Hi David,
Thank you! I cleaned out the directory for my computer and the previous error is gone. But this time I found another issue about the zmq error and the makesecret process after commanding the labscript-profile-create. Will this be an issue to keep going? I tried to launch the blacs and some other apps. But it looks like I got a similar error.

That is a known issue with the zeromq == 4.3.5 package provided by conda. It should resolve if you downgrade to 4.3.4. I've hoped conda would fix it, but they are dragging their feet so I guess I'll have to change a version pin to help people going forward.

Hi,

I am new to labscript and I was trying to create a profile during the installation process. I got the same error mentioned in this thread. I followed this thread and downgraded my zeromq to 4.3.4. But now its showing a new set of errors. Please see the attached screenshot. Can someone please help me with this.

It appears you are trying to create a labscript profile over the top of an existing one. Try renaming the labscript-suite folder to something else (or deleting it outright if it contains nothing of value) and rerunning the command.
