Issues configuring a Pineblaster

I have had issues configuring a  Pineblaster software pineblaster.pde on a digilent max 32 board. I believe I followed the correct steps:

1. Installed Arduino IDE
2. downloaded the MPIDE
3. installed the driver for the diligent max 32 drivers 
4. attempted to upload the pineblaster.pde code to the board

when I put code to upload  I get the following errors:

c:/.../downloads/mpide files/mpide-0023-windows-20120903/hardware/pic32/compiler/pic32-tools/bin/../lib/gcc/pic32mx/4.5.1/../../../../pic32mx/bin/ld.exe: function at exception vector 24 too large

c:/.../downloads/new mpide files/mpide-0023-windows-20120903/hardware/pic32/compiler/pic32-tools/bin/../lib/gcc/pic32mx/4.5.1/../../../../pic32mx/bin/ld.exe: function at exception vector 3 too large

c:/.../downloads/mpide files/mpide-0023-windows-20120903/hardware/pic32/compiler/pic32-tools/bin/../lib/gcc/pic32mx/4.5.1/../../../../pic32mx/bin/ld.exe: function at exception vector 24 too large

collect2: ld returned 1 exit status

Any help with this would be appreciated thank you.

Hi Andrew,

Have you tried with the code in this branch of the repository: https://github.com/labscript-suite/pineblaster/tree/MPIDE_v0023-20140821 ?

There is also a separate branch for MPIDE v0150

I think this issue has come up before, hence the firmware in different branches. It was a long time ago now though, so I'm not 100% sure. These fixes do, unfortunately, result in a reduction in the number of available instructions. Should be fine for most users though.
