I've added a couple of label mail merge add-ons, but they both have instructions for using a spreadsheet as the data source.  I want to use my Google Contacts.  Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Jackie,
You could export your contacts from Google Contacts to a spreadsheet and then use the spreadsheet as your source of data.

Let us know how it goes.

This is my exact query as well. I already have a data set, it's in google contacts. My contacts are grouped under multiple labels. Why can't I just put a simple piece of code in after the greeting to tell Google Contacts to insert first name as a greeting in a bcc email? I don't want to have to export and import data. I already have enough spreadsheets! All the information is already there!

Hello Sally,

You can merge labels from Google contacts as a source, however exporting the data to a spreadsheet will be the only way for now. Google doesn't offer a simple way to run a mail merge from your contacts unfortunately.

Thank you Lucy. It would be nice to be able to do simple greeting mail merges straight from contacts (since google seems to be able to fill in first names anyway as you type an email). However, I have now taught myself how to use mail merge (with a bit of help from my son) and that actually is a bit of a game changer because it offers so much more. So I've learnt something!
