register interactives without complete recompile

I have found that the lab interactives page does not register a new interactive unless I "make everything" and "rackup" and refresh.  I'm putting my new interactive in /interactives/samples/ (in my own topic branch).

Is there a quicker mechanism to register a new interactive?
