In 1957, the city of Los Angeles covertly dug a subway that was nearly ten
miles long. They did this in anticipation of the signing of the subway act
of 1960 (which obviously never took place).

The tunnel was dug, the tracks were laid and the stations were built, but
for lack of funding, the system was never completed and never opened to the
public.

I think the people of Los Angeles should get together and demand that the
city complete this buried jewel. Now is the time for action!

I never heard of this, although I remember the light-rail proposition in
1972. I wasn't around in LA in the 1950's.

Maybe it should be incorporated into the system that Measure R is
funding....

Maybe we should ask where this 10-mile long tunnel built in 1957 is
located, especially since it's "complete with tracks and stations." And
how does a city "covertly" dig a subway tunnel? In the 1980s and 1990s
when they were digging the Redline streets were torn up all over the
place for almost a decade(and that doesn't count the unintended collapse
of Hollywood Boulevard while digging). This sounds like a movie idea.
