Nous sommes désespérement à la recherche d'une personne maîtrisant parfaitement l'anglais, afin de pouvoir effectuer une relecture de la traduction de l'Appel au Boycott des spectacles animaliers de la Place de Jamâa El Fna.
De plus, une seconde pétition serait à traduire, toujours en langue anglaise. Il s'agit de la pétition en pièce-jointe relative à la sauvegarde du SEBE Ramsar de la Moulouya, pour la sauvegarde de la biodiversité dans l'Oriental.
Merci de nous apporter votre soutien et de Signer les deux pétitions, si cela n'a pas déjà était fait.

In Marrakech, Jemaa El Fna Place is renowned with the traditional spectacles of “snacks charmers” These spectacles are given in many others places and hotels in Morocco.

The perpetration of these doubtful middle ages practices induced the ill-treatment of the cobras, the running up vipers, the grass snakes of Montpellier and other snakes, which are replaced by other victims ophidian’s after a few months or weeks, because all are dedicated to death. This parasitic consumption of involves too many captures as well as a maintenance in repugnant boxes (without water, food and with the contempt of any hygiene) and a traffic under abominable conditions causing a great mortality of the held snakes.
The majority of the beautiful species concerned either are threatened of extinction in North Africa or are in alarming regression. This contributes to dismaying general impoverishment of the ecosystems of Morocco to our dramatic time marked in the whole world by the beginning of a massive extinction of the species which is accelerating and while worsening. An extinction accompanying by other narrowly overlapping phenomena like deforestation, the rarefaction of water, the overgrazing, the climatic reheating, etc, all catastrophes caused by a disastrous anthropocentrism.
We cannot continue any more to close the eyes on these "spectacles" under pretext which they would be ancestral traditions and which the animals concerned would be only of "dirty animals", of the snakes dedicated to the general opprobrium.
This is why, we signatories, we commit ourselves not more encouraging these spectacles of another time which maltreat the snakes and refusing to make a choice discriminating within threatened, by the same occasion we engage not to more encourage these trainers of small monkeys, attached short and constrained under the blows to execute dismaying pirouettes.
We also commit ourselves encouraging in no form these sordid merchants of the souk who propose dead or sharp animals, for the majority protected species.
In addition, we address to various tourists and we asked them seriously to open the eyes and to be diverted these practices or better to protest nearby the authorities, so that Morocco can finally be able to rise with the height of the stakes of our time which is marked by so serious illness that in the long term threaten any life on earth, of which ours and that of our children...

Appel au boycott des spectacles de serpents et autres pratiques basées sur la maltraitance animale et l'exploitation de la biodiversité au Maroc
" Tortues, caméléons, fouette-queues, serpents, sont menacés par la disparition de leurs habitats naturels et par le commerce. [...] Les touristes devraient être désireux de pouvoir visiter des pays où ils pourraient admirer des animaux et des plantes uniques dans un cadre sauvegardé" ("L'Appel de Marrakech", Premier Congrès Méditerranéen d'Herpétologie, 16-20 avril 2007/Marrakech-Maroc).
À Marrakech, la Place Jemaa-El-Fna doit une partie de sa renommée aux traditionnels spectacles de "charmeurs de serpents". Ces spectacles sont reproduits dans de nombreuses autres places et hôtels du Maroc. La perpétration de ces douteuses pratiques moyenâgeuses induit la maltraitance des cobras, des vipères heurtantes, des couleuvres de Montpellier et autres serpents, lesquels sont remplacés par d'autres victimes ophidiennes après quelques mois ou semaines, car tous voués à une mort programmée. Cette consommation parasitaire de la biodiversité entraîne aussi bien de trop nombreuses captures qu'un maintien dans des boîtes infectes (sans eau, sans nourriture et au mépris de toute hygiène) et un trafic dans des conditions abominables provoquant une grande mortalité des serpents détenus.
La plupart des belles espèces concernées sont soit menacées d’extinction en Afrique du Nord, soit sont en régression alarmante. Ceci contribue au consternant appauvrissement général des écosystèmes du Maroc à notre époque dramatique marquée dans le monde entier par le début d'une extinction massive des espèces qui va en s'accélérant et en s'aggravant. Une extinction accompagnant d'autres phénomènes étroitement imbriqués comme la déforestation, la raréfaction de l'eau, le surpâturage, le réchauffement climatique, etc., toutes catastrophes provoquées par un anthropocentrisme désastreux.
Nous ne pouvons plus continuer de fermer les yeux sur ces « spectacles » sous prétexte qu'il s'agirait de traditions ancestrales et que les animaux concernés ne seraient que de « sales bêtes », des serpents voués à l’opprobre générale.
C’est pourquoi, nous signataires, nous nous engageons à ne plus encourager ces spectacles d'un autre temps qui maltraitent les serpents, et, refusant de faire un choix discriminant au sein de la biodiversité menacée, nous nous engageons par la même occasion à ne plus encourager ces dompteurs de petits singes, attachés court et contraints, sous les coups, à exécuter de consternantes pirouettes.
Nous nous engageons également à n’encourager sous aucune forme ces sordides marchands du souk qui proposent des animaux morts ou vifs, pour la plupart espèces protégées.
Par ailleurs, nous nous adressons aux touristes variés et divers en leur demandant de bien vouloir ouvrir les yeux et de se détourner de ces pratiques ou mieux encore de protester auprès des autorités, afin que le Maroc puisse enfin se hisser à la hauteur des enjeux de notre époque marquée par des maux si graves qu’ils menacent à terme toute vie sur terre, dont la nôtre et celle de nos enfants.
