Mary,
I have personally worked hard at upgrading and maintaining my units and I have a significant amount of time and money invested in this complex. In addition to upgrading my own units, I have hauled trash from the open area adjoining our community. I have hauled trash from the dumpster enclosures. I stop and pick up trash from tenants that are not mine. I report infractions I see to the office. I am highly engaged and concerned with the success of this development. I am surprised that you could imagine I might be negative. After all, I sent four emails before I got this simple whiney response from you. Thank you for finally responding.
Are you suggesting that I should be happy when none of the suggestions that I have presented have ever been addressed by you or the HOA board? We minority owners continue to be at the mercy of an absentee board that is stuffed with employees of the majority owner and is desperately trying to sell out. They refuse to see the obvious. Unless they invest in each unit they own, they will not be able to recover their investment. Am I to believe that our HOA management company which is hired by this board and not located anywhere near the town of Ridgecrest is equally concerned with the interests of the minority owners as it is with the majority owner that also controls the board and hires the management company? I am almost 62 years old, so I was not born yesterday.
In addition, I pay my HOA fees regularly and I still see no changes. I have not had a working sprinkler system in front of 232 Oasis for a year and yet the board will not either approve the needed repairs throughout the complex or move to xeriscape the complex. The garbage bins still sit in the street after a year. The only comment I ever hear from our board is we all need to pay more, yet they will not address problems in their units or suggestions to save money and make changes over time. I could go on at the risk of being negative.
The previous board meeting was so important to our board that they forgot to call in and had to be personally called and reminded after the start of the meeting. I fully expect the December meeting to be like the past meetings; Lots of hand ringing, statements about what should be done and then a motion to adjourn. We cannot even directly contact our board. We have to go through their management company which only responds with a rebuke for being negative.
I completely understand how you might feel that realistic comments could be construed as negative. I am not by nature a negative person, but neither am I a Polly Anna. My work as the lead on a number of projects for the DOD requires that I am upfront and realistic in my approach to problem solving. Perhaps if you were here more than once every few months you would become a realist, too. When my fees that pay your salary start producing noticeable changes and we have complete accountability I will be glad to change my tone from what I see as realism.
Respectfully,
John Ellis

John: Although we appreciate your emails, we don't appreciate your continued negative approach to everything. I've asked numerous times in the past to please refrain from the negativity....it does no one any good.
I've also advised you numerous times in past emails that the email address for lamiragehoa gets kicked back. This is no surprise to you.
I encourage you and all other owners to join our upcoming Dec conference call. All matters of concern will be addressed and documented accordingly.
Thank you.

Jamie,
Here is another indication that our HOA is a joke. The email address bo...@lamiragehoa.org that used to be used by our “wonderful” HOA board, now bounces. It will be a happy day when G8 sells enough units so we can vote them and the Michael’s company out.
