Don't know about these groups?
Emily Reuman has done incredible work in Los Angeles on behalf of the Corporate Accountability International's effort to get Congress to re-prioritize tap water. She has been here since mid-winter as a member of the Green Corps.

Green Corps’ Field School for Environmental Organizing trains college graduates, (Emily graduated last year from Bryn Mawr College in Political Science and Environmental Studies), to run environmental campaigns, starting by building a core group of activists and finishing by convincing decision-makers to pass laws, change policies and create reforms to protect our environment. But Green Corps is more than a school – it’s a real-world endeavor. Trainees start working on campaigns from the start of their education. They make a difference, starting on Day 1.

Given Emily's memorable accomplishments here, including a World Water Day Press Conference on the steps of City Hall, it's clear that the Green Corps is doing terrific work. Emily leaves Los Angeles for several more weeks of training before her next field assignment. She and the other Green Corps members are doing the work that many of us wish we had the time and expertise to undertake. Since we don't, the next best thing is to donate so that they can continue this really important organizing. (Can’t make it but still want to donate? www.greencorps.org/donate , please note in honor of LA fundraiser or Emily Reuman) Learn more by checking out the attached brochure.

Food Not Bombs has chapters all over the world, as far as Australia and as close as the University of Southern California! Food not Bombs started in the 1980s in Cambridge, Massachusetts by anti-nuclear activists. Food not Bombs strives to divert the waste stream and provide nutritious, healthy meals to community and those in need. We recover food that would otherwise be wasted (leftovers from farmer’s markets, donations at the end of the day from grocery stores) and serve them openly and peacefully in public spaces where everyone is welcome. We also support groups for nonviolent social change by serving food at events like Occupy LA and the Nisei Diploma Project.

Our most recent project at the kitchen where we cook, the Technicolor Tree Tribe Co-op, is to fix up an old Ford Econoline to turn into the FNB-Mobile. We bring music, spray paint, banners, and food and water to Skid Row and Exposition Park on Saturdays to create a community hangout.
