Subject: Building Our Community Engagement Team at APALC in Los Angeles
Hello colleagues!
We are building the civic engagement team here at the Asian Pacific American Legal Center! We have big plans for the November 2012 campaign cycle - we'll be contacting 25,000 AAPI voters in 9 different ethnic communities through mailers, phone calls, and canvasses, partnering with over 20 organizations and distributing mini-grants to youth groups to do civic engagement projects! We need to hire someone quickly and someone that will be able to hit the ground running. Though this is a campaign job for now, it is built into our larger new community engagement department and there will be a lot of room for growth for an innovative organizer. We would like to hire someone by mid-July.
Please help us find someone great! Spread this out to your networks! Find position summary below:
Position Summary: This position is in APALC’s new Community Engagement Project, which, as part of APALC’s civic engagement workis launching a groundbreaking, non-partisan effort to reach, educate, and mobilize Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI), voters in California. As part of APALC’s policy team, the Coordinator will help APALC achieve integrated voter engagement by working with APALC units and community partners to increase the overall civic engagement of AAPIs and their influence in decision-making processes affecting the health, social and economic well-being, and civil rights of AAPI families and individuals. The Coordinator will have primary responsibility for recruiting, training and coordinating community partners and volunteers to reach and turn out voters in Southern and Central California, including coordinating phone banking and canvassing.
