Hey,

I haven't emailed in a while and I thought it would be good to
reconnect! Jenny and I should organize a dinner soon. Maybe mid-March?
What works for people?

Right now I'm working on a local LA citywide ballot measure for the
March 8th Election. We placed Measure H on the ballot to tackle the
problem of money in local politics.
H does basically 2 things:
1. H strengthens the public matching funds system by lifting the
maximum balance in the Campaign Trust Fund.
2. H prohibits campaign contributions and fundraising by bidders
on most city contracts that are worth at least $100,000 and subject to
elected official approval.
Sounds good, right? Yes on H on March 8th!

Hi Anjuli,

I've been wondering what happened to the dinners. I got back from my
trip at the end of October -- I ended spending almost six months on the
road. It was really amazing, and heartbreaking. I wrote a preliminary report
on the trip in August, which is at
www.SOLresearch.org/~SOLR/rprt/RoadTrip.asp . I'm working on writing a final
report and plan to do a book of the interviews I collected after that.

I do look forward to hooking up with other LA activists again now
that I'm back. Mid-March sounds great.
