Hello oh best of players,

I'm always pretty jazzed up for game right after session, so let me
give you a bluebooking date now. I'm sure it won't work for many, but
in case you're like me and don't do much for holidays, this Wednesday
I will be available for bluebooking. Sceduling at least a day in
advance is appreciated. Rest assured there will be other days
announced, probably in early December.

PS. Good on the players who skipped ahead to the fourth disk last game.

What exactly is meant by bluebooking?

Between-games RP that is officially recognized by the staff.

For the longer explanation:

The term is derived from those little blue books that you used to hand in essay tests in (do people still use those; I feel old).  Around my old RP circle, we used to filch them to hand in to STs with written summaries of what we wanted to do.  Now we can just send emails, but the term remains.

Essentially, they're for scenes that we haven't or probably wouldn't run during the larp session, often due to the fact that they only involve a few people or require some shenanigans.  Often people will conduct investigations, describe influence they're spending, consort with NPCs, or engage in any number of character activities they'd like to happen during the week of in-character time that happens between sessions.

If you'd like to conduct such a scene, they'll usually happen physically at my apartment or Tish's.  For our Twin Cities players, one, there's a bounty on Mike Pleidl's head, he lives in Minneapolis, and two, if you want to conduct bluebooking via email/skype/gchat/aim, then we gms have this capability.  FSM bless the internet, now distance is no obstacle to RP.

So yes, I'll be free Wednesday, November 24, and I can probably be counted on to be free on Friday, December 3rd also.

Best,

Becca

I was afraid blue booking was an afliction, but I'm not going down that road.

I don't have any real need to run scenes, but I do need to have a conversation about using my samurai given influence.  Would that be better face to face or just emailed in?

You may feel old, but this is more recent than my college tenure. We
used regular, college-ruled, three-hole notebook paper.

If you do want to just spend some influence, an email describing your activities is perfect.  Please send it to L5R.M...@gmail.com, and title it something along the lines of "Influence Spending."  Please do similar for XP requests, in their own email titled "XP SPending, XP Requests, Holy Crap XP."

Thank you,

So there.

Danny and I would like to investigate Daidoji Tamasaru further on
Wednesday evening, and I could use some time to interview Ikoma
Nemurai (I have no idea if I'm spelling that right, but the embezzling
guy), and Danny being around could help.

The Lion are not going to let you investigate the Ikoma without a Lion present; effectively you're a police officer trying to ask the army to investigate their troops.

If there's an issue involving the Lion military force that requires a liaison, Daisuke will serve, should it please Akodo Masaru-Sama and General Kazumichi.

I would be glad to help out with these investigations, and I am sure that the honorable Daisuke can be trusted to keep the magistrates properly respectful.  Oh, it's Ikoma Harume, btw.  Let me know what time works for you guys.

I know Danny cannot do it on Thursday, and I kind of need another
magistrate/yoriki present. Akodo Masuda (David) was the one who
brought me (Suzu) into this to begin with, and he told me he'd help me
get an interview with the Ikoma; it's perfectly plausible he handed
this off to Matsu Daisuke, but Isawa Suzu, at least, was under the
impression she was cooperating with Akodo Masuda on this.

Isawa Suzu is also perfectly happy to leave this entirely in Lion
hands, if it matters, since it seems entirely an internal Lion affair.
She was just continuing on with the investigation because Akodo Masuda
did not seem to want to continue on with this alone, but she is not
exactly sure what jurisdiction, if any, she has, since it would be
Lion dealing with Lion.

1.  Thursday I do have some Thanksgiving things I need to go to, so it's right out.  Sorry Joel.

2.  Daisuke is certainly trusted by  Akodo Good-Guy to help handle this stuff, but the Lion certainly might not be really friendly or open about whatever is going on with supplies.  Your choice if you want to follow it up or not, but you'll need a Lion with you (not that the Lion don't trust the Phoenix, but the Lion are just so full of honor that they want you to have an escort to make sure you aren't overwhelmed).

3.  If Claudia and Danny still want to bluebook investigating that Daidoji, sure, let me know when.  I'll try not to bring out the O-Ichi cackle.

4.  hyperboleandahalf.blogspot.com/   I am not even kidding.

Slight addendum:

To the Esteemed members of the Phoenix Clan,

We thank you greatly for your efforts to assist Matsu Daisuke and Akodo Masaru in their investigations and are certain that they will be able to use what resources you have to extend as skillfully as possible. We thank you for taking time from your own clan matters.

Given the nature of our operation we must note that certain places will not be available for investigation and certain records may not be accessed unless an official investigation of an Imperial nature is brought forward.  If these things are necessary, we will make the information known to Akodo Masuda or Matsu Daisuke who will then relate the information at their discretion.

The following places are off limits during this investigation:

Officer Quarters
Barracks
War Room
Medical Quarters

The guests are not permitted within the following places without an escort:

Military supply room
Quartermaster record room
Correspondence quarters
Lion tribunal room

Forgive that at this time records of previous supplies and current supplies are considered to be Lion property and not to be given outside of clan.

About the Competition of Maidens, or whatever it's called: could this be moved to bluebooking?
If it has to be in the Larp, but here's my situation.

The Beloit Dorms close on December 15th. I was planning on leaving then, but if someone was willing to put up with me for a few days (or a few people--I don't mind being juggled), then I can probably make the December Larp. (the 18th, right?), but would need to get to the Madison airport* to catch my plane, probably the next day.

Would it be possible to do the Competition of Maidens as a bluebooking event? As far as I know, we need some of the Phoenix PCs (Claudia, namely, and others if they wanted to do moral support), but there are no other PCs really competing--just NPCs. Right? Then again, I'm not really sure what the GMs were planning for it.

So just let me know if that would be possible. I would super appreciate it!

Thursday is thanksgiving. Durr hurr hurr. I's smrt.

I'll be happy to work around my schedule as I can to match yours, as i assume it will be easier for me than David to attend (he lives in a far off land of marshmallows and chainsaws, if I understand.)

If no bus is available, I can drive you to Madison airport.  It may be very early though, as I've no idea what my work schedule is.

2. If that's the case, Suzu is dropping that investigation like it's
hot. She was only going to help as a favor to the Lion, and
considering Tish's post (which would so badly cripple any
investigation) and how the Lion are going to be hostile about it, no
way. It's a Lion internal affair, therefore outside her jurisdiction,
thus she doesn't care. That being said, she's already seen the Lion
supply records, and the Lion would know this (considering Akodo Masuda
handed them over for her to look at).

3. I get off of work at 5pm, but it takes me a little to get anywhere
by bus. Is 6:30 pm okay for the Daidoji Tamasaru bluebooking?

Akodo Masuda wasn't really interested in getting assistance from the Phoenix to investigate the Lion, but those supplies had to go somewhere, and they probably didn't stay in Lion hands. His idea was that the Yoriki could go find the goods out in the province, while he (and certainly Matsu Daisuke is welcome to join him) dealt with the clan stuff.

I might be available for a lunchtime bluebooking session on Dec 4th or 5th, if a GM wanted to deal with this stuff.

Cheers,
David...
