The Learning4Content Training is giving me an oppoortunity to see the huge
benefits WikiEcucator can/will bring to distance education in PNG.
Teachers can share knowledge, course writers/developers can develop
suitable content, and students can interact with teachers.
WikiEducator, an Internet tool for bridging the digital divide through the
education system, must be built into national education plans and
developments priorities. It is an enabler, and there are many barriers,
and the biggest barrier is the physical infrsstructure. I am talking about
reliable and affordable Internet connection to remote areas, where the
bulk of our teachers are. I am talking about Primary and Secondary School
Teachers. We can make a start from those of us who have the priviege to
attend this Training by helping our colleagues to come up with a trainig
program for Teachers.
I am calling on the Education Department to work with the OPoen
College/Flexible Learning Centres of the five Universities to draw up a
Five-Year Plan to use WikiEducator, which would include training and
network facilities.
These are my thoughts.
