I'd like someone to state the distributive law and give an example.

Thanks,

The question was asked 3 days ago.

The distributive law is:

a(b + c) = ab + ac

An example is:

2x(4x - 1) = 8x2 - 2x

----

Extra Information:

The law holds for ordinary numbers, but it is also true for matrices too.

If A, B, C are 2x2 matrices then

A(B+C) = AB + AC.

The next question is - can we use the distributive law for matrices, twice, to simplify

(A+B)(A-B)

If so, how.  Over to you...
