The idea is a block booking at Fat Monkeys lodge, Cape Mac. For those who don't know it, this is a small place at the east end of the bay, past Cape Mac lodge and all the stalls, pubs etc. Bar/dining room right on the beach,
sand between your toes, very laid-back with friendly owners (Geoff & Karon Roberts). Recently refurbished, very nice clean rooms and two bigger cottages; also 2 dorms for the budget-conscious. Good food at moderate rates;
beer MK200 a bottle. Good security, good swimming, or walking on the beach. Boats for hire, and along the bay there is scuba diving and kayaks for hire. Altogether a magic place to lay back and unwind, even run a bit if you feel like it....
The proposed itinerary is for us hares to set the trail on Saturday morning, having stayed-over on Friday night. The hashers can come down at their leisure Sat morning, have lunch at the lodge (fresh chambo or kampango straight
from the lake - or the usual steak etc for carnivores). Hash in afternoon, lonnnng circle (hope we can bring our own beers for this), beers and more beers. Karon will set up a bonfire and BBQ by the beach, meat and/or fish,
plus the usual other eats, all for MK2000 per head. Then carry on as you like, early to bed (but you get a down-down) or carry on boozing, the reason d'etre of the trip....
Sunday morning swim, decent breakfasts, later on another hash on a different trail, circle up, swim/lunch/disperse to LLW at leisure in the afternoon.
Hardy souls or the impoverished can camp at MK750.
The dorms are two and sleep 5+6 bodies, at MK1500 each.
The double rooms, big and airy, private shower, WC, etc, have 3 beds and cost MK6000 for the room. There are 4 double rooms. Fans, no A/C.
The cottages are even bigger, have 4 beds in 2 rooms, fridge, sink, tea/coffee/kettle, etc. Also fans. Costs MK7500 per cottage of which there are two. Good for families or two friendly couples!
Proposed date: Saturday 6 March. The lodge is presently empty that night so we can have a real private Hash and Hash Bash. That can change quickly though, so we need to have numbers/cash ASAP.
Think that's about all at present, hope to get a positive feedback on Monday 8th at the apres-Hash circle. On-on, Charlie (Bloody Kewin).
