First service of its kind in Kingdom uses IMEI private identification system
STC INTRODUCES EIR SERVICE ALLOWING CUSTOMERS TO DISABLE LOST MOBILE PHONES
Saudi Telecom Company has introduced a unique free service, called EIR, which allows customers to disable lost or stolen mobile phones by a single call to STC stating their IMEI private identification number.
Customers can obtain their IMEI number by dialing #06#*. Every mobile phone in the world has its own 14 digit IMEI serial number, which can be identified by STCï؟½s network.
As the next step, to join the service customers must go to their nearest STC sales office and fill in an EIR application form, which must be submitted along with the IMEI number and an ID document such as the mobile phoneï؟½s guarantee certificate or their mobileï؟½s bill receipt.
After this, in case of loss the customer needs only to call STC and state the IMEI number, after which no one will be able to use the missing mobile phone.
If the mobile phone is recovered customers can call the STC Customer Service Center on 902 or visit any STC sales office to reactivate their mobile phone and normal service will be resumed immediately.
Including this latest innovation STC, the biggest telecommunications services provider in the region, has launched a record number of 35 exclusive services in a period of just over 12 months.
