This quotation carries the message that one should not include outsiders within their circle of care, so to say, but only intimate people. in the time of a changing political environment, the author suggests that colluding seperate states into a region and creating an interdependence between the states is not the best idea. Rather, each state should take care of itself.

This quotation simply states that regionalists only believe in themselves and only interact with one another rather with the greater, meaning the society in general. This quotation also refers to the fact that language of different regions in a country often divides and separates the least from the most. However, it is not possible to say that regionalists do not have the right to be and or act in a particular because their dialect is part of their culture and it is like an ID card for them. Therefore, this quotation is referring to a political fact in almost every society that it is hard to unite the people in one country because of their different beliefs and cultural background although they are all from the same country and this suggests despite the regional differences we need to unite and act as one body to overcome obstacles.

There are many ways to define regionalism. From a linguistic point of view, regionalism is a feature, such as an expression, a pronunciation, or a custom, that is characteristic of a geographic area. In the statement "regionalisms are best reserved for family and friends", the author criticizes isolation through language, showing that people should be able to communicate without cultural barriers set by language. It is true that most cultures have their regional language; however, these regional language should only be used in a regional level, i.e. family and friends. When we speak to a wider audience, our use of language should be more global than regional.
