Thiswas my exciting first night in Madrid. I made a mental note to make sure that the next time I arrive in a new city in Europe I will get there early enough that I can arrive at my lodging before dark. Had I taken an earlier bus I could have made it out to a Milonga.

Ambiance: This was a good place for a milonga. The dance floor was good and there was seating around it on all sides. The lighting was low and perfect for a milonga. At one point the bartender walked around with a tray of free tapas and gave some to everyone to snack on.

Music: The music was very good. The DJ also played some non-tangos for cortinas and people got up and danced to a couple of them. There were a couple of swing songs and salsa songs that people danced to between tandas throughout the night.

I know many young people go to El Abrazo and/or El Tropezon. Also in the Summer to El Templete (outside milonga at Retiro park). They tend to go out Thu-Sun in general.

Glad you had a good time in my home town ?

I tried Madrid in the summer of 2010. I never go for less than a month. It was good. I liked Verdi very much,on Tuesdays, (Calle Orense 68), I was told the milonga no longer exists. I found an international tango star in there and danced a couple of tandas with her for 2 consecutive weeks. I also liked a milonga on Menendez Pelayo Ave. across from Parque Retiro in a basement on Thursdays also very good. Other milongas at Plaza Santa Ana and Martinez Campos 19, were mediocre to me.

I went back to Madrid last week and attended a new Tuesday milonga (El Apronte).

Is a fairly small venue with a bar and a column in the middle so navigation is a bit tricky.

The music was great (traditional) and I had some nice dances there.

Crowd was mixed with young people too.

The VELA Tango 600S is a safe chair for children and young people with special needs. The special needs chair is perfect for use in the classroom and at home since the central brake provides stability during activity and when the child has to get into and out of the chair.

The option to adjust the seat height, depth and tilt, as well as the backrest and armrests, creates the best possible conditions for an ergonomic sitting position that provides comfort and support during a variety of activities. The height of the chair is adjusted using a gas spring, making it eminently suitable for children who can stand up and sit down without assistance.

The Encuentro is arguably one of the biggest festivals in Europe and always a lot of fun. You'll meet old friends there and make new ones. I admire how its organizers, Tango Natural, are able to build and grow their community and keep bringing young people into the fold. One does not have to worship young tangueras to realize that tango can only live on if young people can pick it up - and keep at it as they grow older.

Other than the Encuentro, they organize several "tango weekends" throughout the year, and I came for three of them. The atmosphere is cozy, with anywhere between 80-200 people in attendance (rough estimate), and as it takes place between Friday evening and Sunday afternoon, it offers just about the right amount of dancing I can do in a row before falling down on my bed in total exhaustion.

Berlin is closer, and yet I only came twice. Once for a wonderful Loca milonga in Tangoloft, another time I came for business and dropped by at the milonga in Bebop. I don't know what keeps me from coming back more often!

I'm always happy to travel to share the joy of tango around, and I was lucky enough to make an appearance at the first-ever tango festival in Hell, Norway, organized by the Trondheim tango club. This is what I played there.

Another event that I cherish in my memory was an international milonga in Grlitz, a Germany city close to the borders of Czechia and Poland. It is regularly frequented by tangueros from all three countries, and is one of the friendliest places you can imagine. The organizers are doing a marvelous job there.

I played 33 times in Prague this year and made several attempts at organizing. Man, isn't that hard! Currently, I am working on a concept that emphasizes the social, fun, non-serious potential of tango. The unaugural event happened just before Christmas, and we had a blast!

There were two main themes I played with in 2019: music of 1950s and 2010s. I am on a mission to brings these two epochs into the mainstream. It does not come without significant opposition: one is considered decadent, the other immature. As a DJ, I can only make my case with careful selection that fits the time and mood.

Of the 2010's orchestras, I reviewed a few of them this year and love them fiercely. They are the future of tango. The future might not look like what we would necessarily expect or want but such is the nature of future: if you could immediately describe it and convert it into physical matter, it would not be the future anymore, it would be the present. Let's keep up hearts open to be surprised, sometimes annoyed, then delighted and amused. As long as it's got the right beat, it's still tango!

Other new bands make less frequent but always appreciated appearances in my playlists. I love all of you guys. One of my goals for my 2020 productions (milongas that I organize) is to feature contemporary records as they appear on Bandcamp and elsewhere. Tango is alive!

I just renewed my subscription to Tango-DJ.at, already mentioned above. Bernhard's database is without peer, and he says he's going to make new releases in 2020, and so if you into collecting tango records, DJing, or want access to hard-to-get releases, a membership there is a no-brainer!

DJ's wouldn't have a frictionless, digital way to obtain the classical tango repertoire without Don Xellos and his TangoTunes, which I have not mentioned a lot previously but have frequented as a purchaser many times. My latest acquisition are vinyl transfers of Pugliese and Demare, which I can heartily recommend.

I am indebted to Thomas Krter for his frequent inspiring posts, from which I have received many tips for new bands and whose writing I use to practice my still quite rudimentary German reading comprehension (Ich werde mich bessern!)

Tango is not only a fascinating dance but also a fascinating philosophy, culture and lifestyle. The search of tango is the search of connection, love, fellowship, unity, harmony and beauty, i.e., an idealism that is not consistent with the dehumanizing reality of the modern world. The world divides us into individuals, but tango unites us into a team, community and species. In tango we are not individualists, feminists, nationalists, Democrats, Republicans, etc., but interconnected and interdependent members of the human family. Tango calls us to tear down the walls, to build bridges, and to regain humanity through altruism, affinity, cooperation, accommodation, and compromise. It is a dance that teaches the world to love.

This study proposed an integrative model with new concepts and tested it with 2,135 young Chinese consumers using global smartphone brands. Results are drawn from structural equation modeling and comparisons between stakeholders and among smartphone brands.

The results show that BOE and BUC are significant and equally effective at enhancing brand bond. BOE also shows a significantly stronger effect on BUC than on brand bond. The temporal comparison between 2015 and 2018 confirms the changing reality of the smartphone world. As for brand comparison, young consumers perceive that iPhone differentiates itself from Huawei and Samsung rivals in terms of BOE and BUC on brand bond. However, none of these brands show significant differences in terms of BOE effect on BUC.

I had just finished working so I went to a supermarket for some groceries. Everything seemed normal.

I noticed a lady standing in front of the soap department smelling each brand on the shelves. She was holding a white stick that blind people use when walking, and a man was assisting her.

My phone rang.

I remembered how I felt when I lost my hearing sense for about a month, many years ago, due to a work diving accident. I was an underwater construction engineer back then, and losing my hearing sense for a while was one of the hardest challenges I ever faced.

This made me wake up and realize what is my deepest passion and what are my fears. I was passionate about tango and I was terrified of the possibility of never being able to hear nor dance to tango music again. Even while I was deaf, I would still attend tango lessons just to be in the atmosphere and dance again, but that time I was dancing only to the beat of my heart.
