Guys,

For those that cannot go to Alctraz how about a bike ride across the
Golden Gate Bridge. Someone told me you can rent bikes for $5 an
hour.

sounds like a great idea.  i could be wrong but i don't think you can rent bikes at the bridge itself.  most of the ones i've heard of are near fisherman's wharf which is about 3-4 miles away (one way).  there might be shops that are closer.  even just walking the bridge is a nice experience assuming that the weather is nice.  speaking of which, it's supposed to rain this weekend.  but it looks like it's going to be clear oct 30th weekend.

you're right bessie, you can't rent bikes on the bridge itself. there are multiple spots in fishermans wharf where you can rent bikes to bike across the bridge and there is a place (same company that has tons of different bikes rental offices around the city) off of market street, near the hotel. The cost is about $20 or so for the coulple hours to $30/day i think....if people want to bike one way across the bridge and in to the small quant town called sausalito on the other side, they can and they can take the ferry back to the fishermans wharf area (with their bikes on board). The more popular companies are...

The other option is a store called sports basement (there are a couple of them in the city)....they rent bikes out for about $10/per 3 hours or $20/day...

the link you sent out anish looks great but 6th and fulton is a long ways from where we're staying...15 minute cab ride at the least...30-40 minutes on the bus...

if people are looking for other things to do and a way to get a SF tour in...

this is a bit more, but split between two isn't too much and it's a good way to get a historic tour of the city and have fun in a matter of a couple hours...

as for the weather...it's been a cold cold summer...we saw about a week of 70-80's beautiful weather the first week of october (nicest its been all year)...then it went away to cold with patches of sunshine to now rain starting tomorrow night...but clearing up for next week, still in the 60's though...dont forget to tell everyone to pack a light jacket/sweater...

and if or shall i saw WHEN we make it to the World Series...it's gonna be CRAZY up in here!!!!!! =)
