Hi

I have installed OSD GUI on my PC, WIN 8, 64 Bit, and it is not really working as I expected it to do.
In the display on the right side, I only get black boxes/frames, but no text. I have tried it on another PC with
WIN 7, 32 bit, and same result. What am I doing wrong?

Hi,

you have to first of all on the first time firing up browse the fonts which are on the data folder, it will remember because the path gets saved on a file.

Have fun,

Great! Problem solved, looks good now, thanks.

Then I can go back to my next problem, the OSD card. Maybe you can help here?

The card is from HobbyKing.  I have soldered the 5V on the frontside, and the Ground connector, and the PAL
on the backside.
Then I uploaded the r370 SW using Arduino  1.0.5. I noticed that the EEPROM.h was not included in the files,
so I ran the eeprom clean before upload.
Anyway, the problem is that I cannot get any video through the OSD. All I can get is a black screen. I have checked
that without the OSD, I have a clear good video from the GoPro. I am only using the 5 volt on the board, should I use
12 volt instead? I can feelt he video chip is varm, so I am a bit afraid of using 12 volt.

Anyone who have the same problem?

You should desolder the PAL jumper first and check, it does not need to be soldered! PAL and NTSC TV systems are software controlled.

Tried that, and it did not change anything. There is only a black screen. Looks like it is the video chip?

OK so...

you maybe have a faulty one but first you should consider to start from the beginning and clear your eeprom then install the firmware, open the GUI and reset (r370 have already MinimOSD as default OSD)
then make sure you have communication between them by changing a value (wherever you want or need to change) write to the board and read, check your changed value/values or functions you have selected.
To complete upload your font map again and test.

If the problem persists you should consider to buy one more OSD... :(
To be honest, I never tested those HK ones and I do not know anyone who have one of those.

Hope you get it running.
Have fun,

Hi

Thanks again for your answer.

I have now investigated the MAX7456 OSD chip a bit more, and it looks like I found at least one problem, but now it is running fine.

I soldered the GND on the backside and the 5 Volt on the front, so all supply for the MAX7456 is coming from my FTDI programmer,
and this FTDI is gettings supply from the USB. The voltage on the USB is 5 Volt, and the Low limit on the MAX7456 is 4.75 Volt.
So I measured the voltage on the MAX7456 during programming, and sometimes it fell below 4.75 Volt. I then tried to re-flash the
board again, and again, controlling that the voltage did not drop below 4.75, and during the last re-flash it was on 4.86 Volt, and now it
is running fine. IT WORKS !!!

Hi Ruben,
about MAX 5V supply, this is a known problem, somewhere I read that the 5V supply is critical for it and some USB ports do not assure the correct voltage.
Hope this hepls other users.

Cheers

Hi ALL,
Please help me to make work my MAVLink-OSD board with the KV_TEAM_OSD_2.3.
After EEPROM CLEAR I downloaded the code to the board. Separately tested the FAT SHARK system works OK. Unfortunately, with the power supply separated for the FAT SHARK and the board from the USB, I receive any signal. Starting the Simulator does not change anything. The board indicates the TX port working regularily.
