Hi there!

Finally I've tried Debian to set me free with no much success, it's a
pain to set up too. Some trial of Kustomizer for Debian here:
http://kurppa.fi/freerunner/mobianizer

KDE is just a try, I use only KDE on my desktop and wanted to try it
on Freerunner. It's actually not that bad (do remember to kill artsd!)
but a lot is missing, starting from a keyboard etc.. If you feel like
contributing, you're welcome: http://etherpad.com/efLV8quc1g - please
let me know if you edit something there. It's nothing at the moment, I
know.

Easiest way to set up a Debian type of OS is Hackleble 1. But try and update it with apt-get and it breaks. But it can be a good starting point. I haven't tried it for about three month now, but Om2008 with the kustomizer script is more usable to me.
Otherwise, try Fyp. Is also Debian, with LXDE and Zhone. But even the latest did not convince me to use it. Could phone with it, though. Better then with Android, that can't get me connected to my provider. Nice easy install now: download, extract on SD-card, fire up. Very nice. Maybe better to look into that.

I have been using FYP and would agree that it would be a good starting
point for customizing Debian. GSM works with 100% reliablity for me so
far. Resume is very slow but works (sometimes you may end up with a
missed call)
