Hi,

mein Wunsch bzw.

Hi,

Hmm couldn't understand much the usability of a direction arrow if the arrow is not on user location, turns / shows user heading.

What can be done in future versions is to offer option to select the type of location marker in navigation and follow modes.

A direction arrow or a location circle with heading indication.

Plus color and size options so can change their appearance!

Hi Emux,
that may be useful for some people, but it's not my suggestion.
Greetings ww

Sorry but in Garmin image, what exactly do we see?

Probably refer to the blue arrow (not the white).
What it shows, the user location at its head?

And simultaneously it also hides part of map, so where is its exact benefit?
And its direction, where it shows, where user looks?

Trying to understand the concept as regular Navigators usually don't work that way. :)

yes, the blue arrow shows exact the same position like the kurviger image.
Current location is exact on arrowhead.
Another  image...

but if i'm the only one...
forget my wishes :-)

Thanks for the additional information!

Probably we're more used to the attached kind of navigator appearances. :)

BTW

When we started Kurviger we promised that we'll never ignore / forget any user report.

So absolutely everything that all of you mention in this forum is evaluated and recorded.

Our todo list is already very large, so we need to manage our resources carefully and just put priorities in all features (nothing is rejected)!

Hi,
I think there is a misunderstanding:
As far as I understood the suggestion is not to use an other icon, but to place the icon (an arrow) in an other way:
Not the center of tbe arrow marks the current position, but the tip of the arrow.
Disadvantage of placing the center of the arrow on current position: The tip of the arrow covers (hides) the part of the map you will enter soon.
This can be solved by placing the tip of the arrow on current position.
Of course then the tail of the arrow will cover (hide) the part of the map where you just have been - but this part is usually less important.
Remark: Usually also Garmin navis place the center of the arrow at current positions, but in the WWW you can download other vehicle icon files, so that the arrow tip is placed at current position (I also did this for my Garmin navis and I appreciate it). I will try to create screenshots to show the difference.
Perhaps this would be a good solution: Users can store vehicle icon files in a certain folder from kurviger app and choose inside the app which icon to use...

Hi,
attached you find screenshots with several zooms and center/tip located arrows to show the advantage of arrow tip at current position.
Sorry - It is not as easy as I thought to bring the garmin (in simulation mode) to a position that shows the advantage - my experience is that you get the maximum advantage at small roads with many crossings / turns.
I tried to demonstrate it when entering a roundabout.

Markus

Hi Markus,

Thanks for the extra information!

Technical: all location markers are OpenGL rendering in real time, not bitmaps are involved.
That's why is easy to customize their colors or sizes if needed for each user separately.

We already noted to review the arrow implementation in a future version. :)

As a first - and much faster - step is to offer color / transparency and size options for the location markers very soon.

Yesterday while cruising we noticed that we too sometimes felt a bit irritated by the arrow position, since we now use the "new" autozoom, and that we would prefer the TIP of the arrow at the position rather than the CENTER of the arrow.

Just to mention ...

I noticed exactly the same on a ride yesterday as well. I think the new zoom-level makes this more relevant than it was before.

We don't forget it and will see what can be done, too many things in pipeline and we need to manage all of them carefully! :)
