I tried to copy a route by creating a Link URL via the 'share' (Teilen) functionality and saved the created kurv.gr URL in google keep.
On the other device, when i open the kurv.gr URL, the browser is opened instead the kurviger app.

In the app settings, the browser doesn't have anything set for standard open.
Kurviger is set to open supported links in the app. In the list of URLs i see kurviger.de, but no kurv.gr.

When i copy the long kurviger.de URL, save it in google keep, and then klick on the long URL the kurviger app opens my route correctly.

Additionally, i think it would be nice if i could type (paste) the URL directly when using the 'import' function inside the kurviger app on top of opening a .gpx file.

Hi Guido,

Thanks for the detailed report!

kurv.gr are shortened links (like the retired goo.gl), so they need first internet to process them, i.e. expand them to their actual long kurviger.de links and then use them.

So the procedure is usually that the browser is initiated to process the link, then for the expanded link a popup should appear with the Kurviger app among the options.

At least that's what we see by testing with Gmail or Inbox and various kurv.gr links.

So if all are set correctly as you mentioned - i.e. not having some app by default to consume all links for itself without popup dialog - then wondering if Google Keep affects somehow all that.

BTW can you do a test with Gmail or your email client to see what happens in your device?

There is no difference (Gmail and Keep).
The shortened URL is opened in the browser, the long URL is opened in kurviger.
When i set the app settings to 'always ask' i'm asked if i want to open the long kurviger.de URL in kurviger or in browser, and the shortened URL is still opened in the browser, and no additional popup appears.

May I ask which device and with what browser?

Can you test a different browser to see what happens?

Ah - got it.
Looks like an issue of the Android system browser (Android 7.1.2 coming with LineageOS 14.1).
I'm using this on my old Moto G which is now a dedicated Motorcycle Navigation Utility, which i wanted to keep with as less apps as possible to save space for offline maps.
It i additionally install chrome, open the shortened URL in chrome, then first chrome starts to translate the URL, and then kurviger.de starts with the route.

Thanks for the follow up!

So it seems that the internal browser (at least on that LineageOS version) doesn't propagate the shortened links further - after their expansion - to the system, so that any registered apps can be informed and use them.
