to Kurt's TNT Winter Ride 2008
Sometimes its really hard to get out there and peddle. We get caught
up in our routines, we find excuses, we do whatever it is to do
something other than exercise. The are numerous things to pull us
away.
Despite the distractions, you make time. You put off that meeting,
you re-arrange that appointment, you do what you have to! That is
what this is about - commitment.
Today I did what I call my 12 mile maintenance loop. That consists of
riding the canal trails to the Concord Army Reserve base, then cutting
across to Todos Santos Plaza, then down to the Airport. There I pick
up the Iron Horse trail near where it begins and ride it all the way
down to Walnut Creek near Pleasant Hill bart, then I hit the canal
trail again going east toward Heather Farms then straight back all the
way back to Treat. It's all flat which doesn't make for much of a
challenge, and there are a lot of stops. But what the heck, its
riding. I take this route often because I like riding through the
older parts of Concord. It reminds of the suburbs of Sacramento where
I grew up as a teenager.
And hey - what about that weather today! YEAH!!!! Clear and mild!
You couldn't ask for a better riding day.
