Today I road to Danville and back (this is a total of 24 miles round
trip). I didn't push as I know I have a big team ride tomorrow. This
was just a simple up and back. The weather held, so life was good.
The ride went fast. I typically ride to the Starbuck's in Danville,
take a short break, energize up - today it was a green apple and a
cliff shot mocha (yum), then I was back on the road.
The only annoyance for this ride was some minor maintenance issue with
my bike. I've been dealing with sports basement on this. So far
they've replace the bottom bracket (crank bearings). So the next
thing to do is to replace the cranks. This isn't cheap and must be
done with a warranty swap. Ryan (Bike manager) has already been in
contact with FSA (crank manufacturer) to figure this out. I hope to
get resolution on this soon.
Unfortunately, I will have to ride it this way tomorrow again. I've
been having this problem for some time with the bike.
When I got home, I immediately ate a banana with peanut butter. This
helps with recovery. Studies show recovery and tissue rebuild happens
3x as fast if you take advantage of the glycogen repletion window
that is open in the 4 hours immediately following vigorous exercise.
