If using a web browser, then simply by setting the width and height attributes of the video tag.

What is the best way to horizontally scale kurento while simply routing webrtc media streams? (no transcoding/downscaling)

My mistake, I should clarify. What should the approach and software stack to horizontally scaling the media server across a group of boxes be?

Thanks

Kurento is currently being transformed into a cloud media server as part of the Nubomedia project (http://www.nubomedia.eu). Currently, Kurento can be installed into any cloud with autoscaling capability and have horizontal scaling through a RabbitMQ connector we have implemented. So, the architecture of what you want to do is:

Kurento Control Server ----(1)---->RabbitMQ Broker ---(N)--->KMS

However, this setup is still experimental and we don't provide community support for it yet.

Best.

As Luis says, this is something doable, but for the moment there is no support/how-to/guide on how to do this, since this it's still experimental. However, it's part of the roadmap, so keep a close eye for this feature in the future.

Cheers,

This response was given 1 year ago. Has there been any further news on how to scale the kurento media server using RabbitMQ?

Thanks

The RabbitMQ connector is working since long time ago (I would say months), but it's not documented and we don't have plans for doing so because our current strategies towards scalability are based on other technologies (see www.nubomedia.eu if you want further details)

I believe that the RabbitMQ connector that they talked about in 2014 has been discontinued. Am I correct?

You can use ElasticRTC AMI if you are using AWS services for Auto-Scaling

ElasticRTC is no longer available.

OpenVidu will implement in the future a way to scale horizontally, but it is not yet implemented.

Best regards.
