The MENA ICT is an annual event that takes place in parallel with the
GULF ICT Forum.

The head of the Kurdistan Regional Government Department of
Information Technology (DoIT) Mr. Botan Osman delivered a speech and
officially contributed to the ICT Conference of the Middle East and
North Africa, also known as MENA ICT 2010, happening from the 26th to
the 28th of January in Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain. This event was
attended by governments, global ICT companies, and institutions of the
Middle East and North Africa.

This is the first time the KRG actively contributes in the conference;
Mr. Osman, the Head of DoIT, was invited as a keynote speaker, and was
a member on two panels to discuss ICT for development and the use of
ICT for economic growth in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

In his speech, Mr. Osman introduced the guests to the Kurdistan region
of Iraq and discussed the KRG's goals of implementing the development
of ICT. He also discussed the previous accomplishments, current plans
and future projects of the KRG and Department of IT.

A key factor in the speech was the DoIT's work with the international
company PricewaterhouseCoopers to develop IT Strategy and implement
the roadmap for the Kurdistan Regional Government over the next 5
years. As a panelist, Mr. Osman received questions from the honorable
guests interested in the current expansion that the Kurdistan region
has seen, specifically within the IT sector.

The DoIT's participation in the MENA ICT Conference is in parallel
with the DoIT's ongoing work and efforts to achieve its vision of a
future where Information and Communication Technology has become an
integral part of the KRG, private sector and society as a means for
efficiency, effectiveness, economic development and a better quality
of life. The DoIT vision will help pave the way for Kurdistan and its
citizens to become competitive members of the Global economy and
information society.

The MENA ICT is an annual event that takes place in parallel with the
GULF ICT Forum. The conference covers a variety of topics and issues
mainly focusing on the opportunities and challenges in developing ICT
in the Middle East and North African countries, including e-government
implementation. The guests include distinguished speakers and renowned
panellists who will discuss and debate the hottest issues affecting
the regional ICT industry and its impact on the economies, communities
and individuals of the region. The conference program was designed by
ICT subject matter experts to meet the needs of today's ICT
professionals and managers.

Established in March 2007 in the Presidency of the Council of
Ministers, the Department of IT was launched in order to put more
emphasis on IT at the highest levels of the KRG. Being the highest
authority on ICT, the Department leads the provision of policies,
strategies, guidance, resources, and support needed for the
realization of Kurdistan's IT vision.
