Opening and closing apps, installing and uninstalling programs, and running multiple windows leave a digital footprint that your processor, system memory, and disk must continue to handle.
To clear your browsing data on Chrome, open the Settings page, select Privacy and Security on the left, and click Clear Browsing Data. You can then select the data you want to remove and click Clear Data.
Netflix might continue freezing no matter what you try if your firewall keeps blocking it. You can ensure that this is not the case by entering your firewall settings and adding Netflix to its allow list.
My parents Sony TV from 2021 (Sony 65" X95H 4K) which is heavily integrated with Android has recently developed a fault where it keeps freezing. It happens every few nights. Happens when using the freeview, inbuilt TVNZ or Netflix apps. When that happens the remote doesn't work at all and the screen freezes (initially becomes jerky then freezes) and it can't be turned off , even the power button on the TV doesn't allow it to switch off. The only option is to pull the plug out the back and get it to restart. It started to happen after Sony pushed an android update from 9 to 10. Anyone had this sort of problem? The only thig I can think of to do is factory reset it to see if it continues to happen, and if it does to contact the retailer to get it repaired, but that is a pain to have to reset up everything again .
Stu: There's been a firmware update recently. Things have been pretty unstable since. Micro pauses, lockups, etc. Factory reset didn't fix the micro pauses. Only did the reset a couple of days ago so still to find out if anything has improved.
Thanks, yes that seems to correspond with my experience. I have checked their website and couldn't find any mention of issues, or anyone else experiencing issues. I am wondering the hardware can't handle android 10 or it is just a bug. But the micropauses could indicate a lack of processing power. I had been putting off applying the update, but the TV kept nagging my parents to do the update. I am not sure you can downgrade to an older version either. If android wasn't so integrated into the TV, they could possibly use a Google TV instead, except they use the Freeview app for FTA broadcasts, which you can install on the Sony TV, but not on the Google TV. But when it freezes the remote locks up completely so you can't even change inputs.
I have the same set which also updated recently . I took the opportunity to do a factory reset after updating as I had heard some users complain of issues after update . My set has been running fine after the update and factory reset , its a bit of a pain having to reinstall everything but worth a try .
Just an update, I did a full factory reset and it has had no effect and the screen and remote still freezes up. The interface is also more laggy than it was before the Sony firmware update from android 9 to 10 in December 2023. I suspect the problem is related to Android 10 and the hardware may not be able to cope with it, and I am guessing that reverting back to android 9 might fix this, as this problem occurred immediately after the Sony firmware update. But sony provide no way of reverting back to an old version. I contacted the retailer about 3 weeks ago, and apart from sending all the details they requested, they haven't done anything to resolve it.
The issue is that Sony puts a nag screen on the TV that it needs updating with their new firmware update. So the natural thing s to update it, and if there is ever an issue with the TV they will want the owner to make sure they are running all the latest updates. So in retrospect, updating was a bad idea, but one wouldn't expect this sort of problem from a manufactures update, and if there was a problem, that they would swiftly fix it by releasing an update or patch.
I'm trying to run the Netflix Modern app on my PC running Windows 8.1. To be clear, this is the app that you can install in the Modern interface using the Microsoft Store. I'm not trying to run Netflix in a web browser. Note that it does work in a browser, it's important to me to get the Modern app working because this PC is for a home theater.
Every time I open the app, it gets stuck at the loading screen with the Netflix logo and the dots moving in a circle below it. Sometimes it crashes after sitting at that screen for several minutes, but not every time. There's no error message or any other diagnostic information that I've been able to find.
A lot of sites suggested that fixing permissions of certain key directories and registry entries can fix this kind of issue. I checked the permissions on all of them and they are correct, which I expected. I certainly haven't gone dicking around with Windows' default permissions on this system, so that doesn't seem to be the cause.
So open your charms bar (dumb name... Slide the drawer out on the right side of the screen) and tap the WiFi button and forget your current network and then rejoin it but when it asks if it should discover network devices say no.
Edit: apparently you can avoid forgetting and rejoining your network by right clicking your network in the list of available network while you're connected and choose "turn sharing on and off" and then select "no don't share". I haven't confirmed this works, but it should.
So I found my private network settings had network discovery turned off, and i could turn it on but the setting would not stick even after saving. I did some research and found this article -8-will-not-save-network.htmlFollowing the instructions to locate the setting it also mentions this link -US/5f8f9677-4a55-4e19-9843-b4c71aab93b1/network-discovery-keeps-turning-itself-back-off-?forum=winserverPNI had my DNS service disabled (on purpose, i'll explain below) and after turning this service back on I am able to turn network discovery back on and netflix works even when my network is set to private!
I normally disable the DNS service to allow hostsman (hosts file manager program) to help me block advertisements. Since this doesnt seem to be a very healthy thing to do on my system I will try and find an alternative to reduce advertisements.
I have a RX 6700XT and the 23.9.3 drivers lasted three minutes, at first it seemed to work well, in the first moments you could put the full screen on YouTube and exit without it blocking, but after a minute the screen froze a little, then when starting a game and exit to the desktop and return to the game it freezes for about ten seconds, but on YouTube there has been a moment where it froze every few seconds without putting up a video, so I have decided to go back to 23.9.1 again, which does not cause problems Next time I will have it clear, I will not update again until several days have passed and I see that it works.
..and ironically it's a 'Recommended' driver. Btw I have the same issue. If I alt-tab I get flashing and when I'm simply browsing my whole system starts freezing and I have to turn the computer off. Shame given that when I'm in games I like the performance.
XFX RX 6800 XT here; same issues with 23.9.3 and 23.9.2.
First few minutes it runs flawless, but then it starts to randomly freeze when performing (more GPU demanding?!) tasks on the desktop like: launching VLC media player, pressing "print" or "win+shift+s" for capturing a screenshot, watching YT Videos, etc.
EDIT: YT works fine with Firefox. VLC is still a problem. I will downgrade anyway.
I will now downgrade back to 23.9.1 as you all seem to recommend this.
Some feedback from AMD would be very nice.
EDIT2: Downgrade to 23.9.1 solved it for me. It is a shame that AMD still is so careless at releasing drivers packages. I mean, these cards are STILL not cheap stuff, but the software support FEELS cheap...
Can anyone help here, I get crashing every 15 mins, and I can't roll back to a previous because I've only had it like a week or 2 so I have nothing to roll back to.. or at least the roll back option isn't available to choose
Funny because I upgraded to 23.9.3 to be able to play CyberPunk. The game would not launch with my previous driver. Now I can play CyberPunk but I barely can use my pc because things keep freezing for minutes or flicker: Brave web-browser, Zoom etc...
I said that reverting to 23.9.1 fixed all my issue. Actually one is persisting: the flickering with Zoom, and Brave. The freezes seem to be gone for good though. But man that flickering... good luck watching a full screen zoom presentation when that happens.
I have reverted to 23.9.1.
I couldn't have netflix playing in one browser and scroll through some news in another browser at the same time. The whole screen started flickering and finally everything crashed. Not a very heavy workload in my opinion. 23.9.1 seems a lot more stable.
I'm a little curious about how this version passed quality control. Some regression tests must have been done. I guess those tests needs to be extended including average desktop use. The flicker/freeze issue is also present in 23.9.1 but not as prominent. I'm continuously being opted out of rage mode just browsing the web. Gaming doesn't do that.
