For The Week of December 4, 2011

The Holidays are here, and Christmas is an ongoing opportunity to share what God is doing in your life with other men. So there are several events that KUMC is featuring to help you connect, grow and serve. If you know of a man who might benefit from the activities here, share this e-mail with him and tell him about it along with your forward. Leave no man behind. E-mail kum...@gmail.com for information on the Feed or if you have feedback.

Going on Now...

·      Tuesdays @ 6am - Quest takes on Alpha - Following on the success of the series on spiritual warfare comes a new take on a class you might, or might not, have taken. The Quest group will be revisiting Alpha, an amazing short course in Christianity for those of us coming back to the church after time away, or who have questions we never asked about our faith. It’s worth the getting up for breakfast and fellowship for on Tuesday mornings so come join us. It’s not too late.

·      Ongoing and now Online - Valentine’s Dinner Ticket Sales for Sat. Feb. 11th @ 6pm - Our 3rd annual KUMC Valentine’s Dinner, presented by the Women’s and Men’s Ministries of KUMC, is back with an unbeatable evening of entertainment. $45 per couple gets you wonderful food from Italiano’s and this year an Illusion Show by Phillip and Henry Productions. This sells out every year so don’t miss it. Click here or above to buy tickets online.

·      Sun. Dec. 11th @ 7:15am - Fellowship Breakfast - We continue our series with Rev. Patrick Evans on spiritual warfare and how you can cope...especially during the holidays. Come join us in the Gym for breakfast and stay for the festive events this day.

·      Sun. Dec. 11th @ 9:45am and 11:00am (3rd Sunday of Advent) - O’ Come Let Us Adore Him - This is a special Christmas presentation of the KUMC Music Ministry not to be missed...in the Sanctuary during both later services.

·      Mon. Dec. 12th @ 7:00pm - Holiday Celebration Concert for the Whole Family - Bring everyone to an amazing holiday celebration featuring the Villager Choir from The Village Learning & Achievement Center and the Salvation Army Harbor Lights Choir. It’s a concert in the Sanctuary you won’t forget for a long time.

·      Thurs. Dec. 15th @ 10:30am - Christmas in the Light - A Christmas celebration service for those, whom for whatever reason, Christmas Eve service is not an option. Come celebrate Christmas a little early but no less festive in the Sanctuary.

·      Sun. Dec. 18th @ 4:00pm (4th Sunday in Advent) - Caroling and Soup Supper - Come caroling and bring the whole family. We’ll visit folks who may need a little extra Christmas cheer you can sing or simply make a joyful noise unto the Lord, you are wanted and welcome. Then it’s back for a soup supper at KUMC.

·      Mon. Dec. 19th @ 6:30pm - AHP Book Club @ Skeeters - When Helping Hurts is the book this time. Join them at Skeeters..

·      Sat. Dec. 24th - Christmas Eve at KUMC - Men, there is something for you and everyone in your family on Christmas Eve at KUMC. 11:00am - Children’s Service and Jesus’ Birthday Party is for the little ones, 3:00pm - The Vine Contemporary Service featuring Aaron Hale, 5:00pm - Family Candlelight Service for all even the littler ones, 7:00pm & 9:00pm - Traditional Candlelight Services that you know and love and 11:00pm - Lessons & Carols Candlelight Service for those who want a quieter, simpler celebration of Christmas.

·      Sun. Dec. 25th @ 11:00am - Traditional Morning Worship - For those who wish, KUMC will offer one service on Christmas morning at 11:00am in the Sanctuary.

·      Help Team Welcome - You may have noticed several groups of people working with Team Welcome greeting those who come to KUMC each Sunday morning. Well, though there are some dedicated groups who have taken up the charge, we still find gaps as not all five positions are addressed. Consider taking a Sunday to serve with Team Welcome, even if you aren’t a part of the team working that day you are wanted and welcomed. Contact Steve Reeves or John Nelson for details and to get hooked up.

Ongoing Events These activities are ongoing

You can join these activities at any time.

·      Ongoing - Bus Stop Prison Ministry Needs Men - Each weekday in Humble at the bus station, men and women who are set free from prison having served their time are dropped off to await a bus to the next stage of their lives. Now, a small but dedicated group of your friends and neighbors is gathering to meet them, give them a fresh change of clothes, buy them lunch and snacks to fill their bellies, and show them that God still loves them and wants them back in His world. Men, consider giving of your time to meet these men (women will meet with women) at the bus stop and show some of God’s love for them before they begin the next part of their journey. Help is needed on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays around lunch time. Or if you work consider donating jeans, T-shirts, new toiletries, or moneys to provide food and snacks. Contact KUMC at 281-358-2137 if you can help.

·      Fridays @ 6am - Friday AHP Moves To New Home - Due to the expansion of the School for Little Children and related ministries it was decided that AHP needs to find a new home on Friday mornings. As God would have it, one was available and we are really excited about it. So we will move beginning this date to the K Building on the northwest corner of campus. Men, bring your prayer and study group, or come be a part of ours, as we have lots of room in our new home to grow. Contact Purvis Harper for details or just show up then.

·      Sunday Morning AHP - For those who can’t make Friday mornings, a similar group meets on Sunday mornings at 7:15am in K105. They are studying “Golf’s Sacred Journey: Seven Days on the Links of Utopia”. Every second Sunday they stop down and go to the Men’s Fellowship Breakfast. Visitors are welcomed.

·      New KUMC Web Site - In case you missed it, go to www.kingwoodumc.org (you may have to refresh the page but will know when you do) and check out KUMC’s new web site. Some of the many features are up and running, but there are so many more that will be added shortly and you won’t want to miss out. The new site gives total control over your account @ KUMC, let’s you register and pay online for church-related events and contributions, and yes...get the Feed newsletter in a new way coming soon. Click the “KUMC Community Login” box from the main page or visit https://secure.accessacs.com/access/memberlogin.aspx?sn=106310 where you will want to create an account based on your e-mail address and update your contact info.

In The Pipeline…

·      January 9, 2012 - Letters From Dad - Men, chances are that many of you reading this have taken the Letters from Dad course and have at least one story to share from writing letters to your family and what that can mean. The spring session is coming and it’s time to think about giving it a try if you haven’t before. Also, those who are course veterans consider sharing your story with the group during these sessions and/or inviting some men to come. They don’t have to be KUMC members, just be open to writing to their children. Contact Dan Pearce or Patrick Evans for info.

·      January 27-29, 2012 - Friday AHP Retreat - Those of you men who frequent Friday morning AHP are already aware of this, but if you haven’t been in awhile or at all, here is the info. each year the Friday morning groups do a retreat in Surfside for a weekend of fellowship and some eye-opening experiences with Christ courtesy of John Hensley and his team. You should probably consider attending Friday mornings if you don’t already have a small group of men to fellowship with, pray with and experience life with service Christ. More information is there.

·      Sat. Feb. 11th @ 6:00pm - Valentine’s Dinner - Buy your tickets above for a great evening, and don’t forget to reserve the child care if you need. See you in the Gym.

This is not a "Methodist" thing or a "Christian" thing...It's a "Man" thing for those who seek a better life with God's guidance so you are always welcome at all of our events...no excuses.
