Some soiling to exteriors, moderate rubbing to extremities with some edgewear and minor chips and tears, light browning to interiors, light soiling and minor stains to a few leaves, rectos and versos of all leaves filled with content in legible hand. $1,250. * We believe this manuscript is from Kent because it mentions a number of places there, such as Appledore and Bethersden. Written throughout in a single hand, these books record the daily business of solicitor with a busy practice over a 19-year period. Each entry lists clients, services rendered and fees. Several of these include brief memoranda. Taken together, these books are both a record of a practitioner's professional activities and a window into the social and economic networks of Kent in the years around the turn of the nineteenth century.
Nelle Impostazioni > Privacy presente una nuova sezione dedicata alla Cronologia attivit (Figura 3) da dove sar possibile configurare gli account che utilizzeranno la funzione Timeline, disattivare la funzione oppure cancellare la cronologia delle attivit registrate fino a quel momento.
La tre modalit (Disattivato, Solo priorit, Solo sveglie) saranno selezionabili dal Centro Notifiche, dal relativo pulsante rapido, oppure facendo clic con il tasto destro del mouse sul pulsante per richiamare sempre il Centro notifiche.
Insieme alla nuova sezione Caratteri stata introdotta la possibilit di installare nuovi tipi di carattere attraverso il Microsoft Store (Figura 14). Al momento non ce ne sono tantissimi disponibili, ma fanno sapere che ne arriveranno altri nei mesi a seguire.
Nuove impostazioni per i sistemi Multi-GPU. Presente nelle impostazioni grafica una nuova pagina per i sistemi Multi-GPU (sistemi con pi schede grafiche) la quale consentir di gestire la preferenza delle prestazioni grafiche di app specifiche. Sicuramente molti hanno familiarit con impostazioni simili di AMD e Nvidia (tranquilli, continueranno a funzionare), ma se la preferenza sar indicata da questa nuova area essa avr la precedenza sulle altre. La pagina presente in Impostazioni > Sistema > Schermo > (scorrendo verso il basso) > Impostazioni grafica (Figura 18).
Condivisione in prossimit. Ora possibile condividere file e URL in modalit wireless con i PC nelle vicinanze, tramite Bluetooth, utilizzando la nuova funzione Condivisione in prossimit di Microsoft Edge.
DevTools ancorabili a destra. Gli strumenti utili agli sviluppatori (F12) per analizzare una pagina web possono essere ancorati anche verticalmente, a destra, attraverso un piccolo pulsante in alto a destra. Questo miglioramento soddisfa una forte richiesta da parte di moltissimi sviluppatori web.
Si tratta di miglioramenti che dovrebbero andare incontro alle continue (e lecite) critiche rivolte a Microsoft per aver introdotto, in Windows 10 e altri servizi, un meccanismo di trasmissione / raccolta di dati spesso poco chiaro e trasparente per gli utenti.
Configurazione di Windows Hello pi semplice. Ora possibile impostare il riconoscimento del volto, le impronte digitali o il PIN di Windows Hello direttamente dalla schermata di blocco facendo clic sul riquadro di Windows Hello in Opzioni di accesso (Figura 39).
Domande di sicurezza anche per gli account locali. Generalmente quando ci dimentichiamo la password di un servizio online, se configurato opportunamente, il sistema potrebbe proporci di inserire e, successivamente, rispondere a delle domande sulla sicurezza in modo da verificare la nostra identit. In Windows 10 1803 questa possibilit verr estesa anche agli account locali in fase di prima installazione, aggiunta di un account al PC (Figura 40) e come configurazione nella sezione Opzione di accesso > Password (Figura 41).
Aggiunte nuove Policy dedicate alla Ottimizzazione recapito per limitare la larghezza di banda massima di tutte quelle attivit di download, in primo piano o in background, su determinate fasce orarie della giornata, limitare la selezione dei Peer (al momento) alla stessa sottorete, e molte altre. Le nuove policy sono editabili in Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Delivery Optimization (Figura 43).
Gruppo Home deprecato. A partire da questa versione il servizio Gruppo Home non sar pi operativo in Windows 10 (Figura 46). Microsoft consiglia di sfruttare funzionalit pi moderne come la nuova Condivisione e OneDrive. Il profilo utente utilizzato per la condivisione e le condivisioni di file / cartelle / stampanti continueranno a funzionare.

Page iiiTO THE READER I HAVE been solicited by very many friends, to givemy narrative to the public. Whatever my own judgmentmight be, I should yield to theirs. In compliance, therefore,with this general request, and in the hope that thesepages may produce an impression favorable to my countrymenin bondage also that I may realize somethingfrom the sale of my work towards the support of a numerousfamily, I have committed this publication to press.It might have been made two or three, or even six timeslarger, without diminishing from the interest of any one ofits pages--indeed with an increased interest--but the wantof the pecuniary means, and other considerations, have inducedme to present it as here seen.
I have not, in this publication attempted or desired toargue anything. It is only a simple narration of such factsconnected with my own case, as I thought would be mostinteresting and instructive to readers generally. The factswill, I think, cast some light upon the policy of a slaveholdingcommunity, and the effect on the minds of the moreenlightened, the more humane, and the Christian portionof the southern people, of holding and trading in the bodiesand souls of men.
I have said in the following pages, that my condition asa slave was comparatively a happy, indeed a highlyfavored one and to this circumstance is it owing that I havebeen able to come up from bondage and relate the story tothe public and that my wife, my mother, and my sevenchildren, are here with me this day. If for any thing thisside the invisible world, I bless heaven, it is that I was not Page ivborn a plantation slave, nor even a house servant underwhat is termed a hard and cruel master.
It has not been any part of my object to describe slaverygenerally, and in the narration of my own case I havedwelt as little as possible upon the dark side--have spokenmostly of the bright. In whatever I have been obliged tosay unfavorable to others, I have endeavored not to overstate,but have chosen rather to come short of giving thefull picture--omitting much which it did not seem importantto my object to relate. And yet I would not ventureto say that this publication does not contain a single periodwhich might be twisted to convey an idea more thanshould be expressed.
Those of whom I have had occasion to speak, are regarded,where they are known, as among the most kindmen to their slaves. Mr. Smith, some of whose conductwill doubtless seem strange to the reader, is sometimestaunted with being an abolitionist, inconsequence of theinterest he manifests towards the colored people. If toany his character appear like a riddle, they should rememberthat men, like other things, have "two sides," andoften a top and a bottom in addition.
