To Kumamoto ALTs,
An email was sent to me earlier
today in regards to an opportunity to present and exchange teaching
ideas at an event being held by
PIGATE,
a teacher training group of pre- and in-service teaching professionals.
PIGATE is now working in collaboration with the newly formed
NanKyu JALT
Chapter (The Southern Kyushu JALT chapter) to put on a teaching ideas
exchange event in October. In case you were wondering, JALT (Japanese
Association for Language Teaching) is a nationwide association for
language teachers and educators. You can see their activities and
publications on their website -
jalt.org.
NanKyu is inviting Kumamoto ALTs to get involved in this event as presenters. Since I know many of you probably have a handful of great
ideas up your sleeves, I think it would be a great opportunity for you
to present them to teachers outside of the JET community.
The
details follow in the original email below. If you are interested,
please contact Sarah Faherty, the Nankyu JALT
Program Chair, directly at
pro...@nankyujalt.org by
July 25th.
Kind regards,
Nicole
Original email:
As you may have seen in our latest
newsletter, Nankyu JALT and Pigate are working together to arrange a
teaching ideas exchange on October 10th.
Our intention is for teachers to make brief presentations about a game,
a way to teach a language point, or any other useful tip they may have
for their fellow teachers. We hope it will be an enjoyable and
informative afternoon for everyone.
To that
end, I was hoping you could help us by inviting both teachers and ALTs
in your area to join us. I know from experience how valuable it can when
educators come together and share their knowledge, but the success of
such an event depends upon the enthusiasm of the people who join us. At
this stage, I really just need to know numbers for planning purposes,
preferably by July 25th. Participants can simply email me at this address.
Thank
you for your help. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have
further questions. Here is the link to NanKyu JALT's website for further
information about our chapter and our activities: http://www.nankyujalt.org/.
Best wishes,
Sarah
