Bodrum will be cheered up with its 1st stunning Art Biennial

Bodrum, Turkey's most heavenly holiday and touristic destination, is adding a new cultural activity. The first Bodrum Biennial therefore, will be opened in different three places on the 2nd of September, 2013! The biennial proudly sets off within a claim that it will become one of the world's leading art biennials by offering the exquisite, flash international participants, professional organization and the experienced, inspiring designers.

This remarkable project developed through the years of the national art exhibitions called: “The October Parades” by the Association of Modern Art Museum in Turkey. That exciting art event is being offered to Bodrum art lovers and to their interest by the help of Gülsün ERBİL who is a leading international, versatile artist, an honorary president and the founder of the Modern Art Museum.

There are mainly total 50 biennial participants both national and foreign artists from the US and Europe. The art event will continue for two months and the art works will be represented in the core of Bodrum such as Bodrum Castle, Sevket Sabanci Cultural Center and the Ottoman Tersanesi Art Gallery.

The curator of the first Bodrum Biennale is Banu GROTE. She is a very well-known international artist and has Master's degree in cultural studies from Zurich Faculty of Fine Arts in Switzerland.

Beyond that the organizer of this project is Gülsün ERBİL who initiated numerous and nationwide art exhibitions, called the October Parades. The October parade concept accordingly, has aimed to bring the modern art to even the most remote corners of the country and to support the liberal idea of Republic; the modern Turkey, which was founded in 29 of October 1923 by Atatürk. Hence, that contemporary notion as an invaluable heritage has been entrusted to the younger generations for more than twenty years with proud.

Having an uncommon point of view, a hard discipline, belief and an amazing creative soul, Gülsün ERBİL has been the first individual envisioning the İstanbul Biennial in 1972 and the Harlem Biennial in the States in 1998.

Impressively the authorities and the art critics strongly believe that the first Bodrum Biennial starting on the second of September and continues for two months will give a huge impact. It is in fact being considered that Bodrum Biennial will become among the 200 International Art Biennials around the world because of its unique at the same time incomparable, geographical, historical and cultural location. Moreover, during the biennial, art symposia will offer conceptual and interesting art subjects that are going to enrich and expand the spirit of the Biennial.

It is a fact that relations between the countries, art plays a vital role. From this perspective art and artists have responsibilities to carry culture, transform the thoughts, and share their inspirations globally. It is undeniable that art unites the borders and develops a new clear understanding for every single individual.

Bodrum as a town is still one of the dream like places in Turkey with its lovely sun and sea. However, above all, in recent years, having hosted various ballets, operas, classical music concerts and cultural events so forth, Bodrum this time is going to become even more popular more than ever. Why? Just because, without a doubt, it seems that the first Bodrum Biennial is going to offer a new perspective, prosperity and bright future.
