You would not need to stay for their business meeting and if you do not want to eat, please come and "smooze" with the EcoTeam...First Presbyterian is one of ECM's partner congregations. They can be good allies in collaborating on issues.
Let me know if you are interested...by email at ec...@ku.edu or call 843-4933

Subject: An evening on Eco issues with Representative Tom Sloan
Dear all; (Please send this message along to others whom you think would be interested in this opportunity)
Next Saturday evening, we will have an opportunity to meet with Kansas House Representative Tom Sloan to discuss some of the major issues that will be facing the Kansas Legislature this coming year. Tom brings a wealth of experience and knowledge both on the workings of the Legislature and on the issues of energy conservation, environmental health and preservation, and State finance of education. He has been a leader in promoting the harnessing of wind energy and on supporting adequate State funding for education. I am certain that you will find this discussion informative and enlightening, This evening will be and opportunity to participate in an open discussion on a variety of issues, so please come prepared to participate. One of our goals is to serve as a support group for our representatives in the State Government who will advocate for sound legislative initiatives that preserve and protect our environment. Tom has been such an advocate.
We are meeting at 6 pm on Saturday evening (the 10th) at our home---2145 Owens Lane which is located at the end of the cul-de-sac off 21st Street just across from Alabama Street (west of Lawrence High School). (The mail box for 2145 has butterflies printed on it.). If you are unsure, I can send a map or call us at 843-9438
We have planned a pot luck dinner beforehand with a meat dish of grilled sliced pork tenderloins which we will provide. We will need salads, veggies, something to drink, deserts, breads, etc---whatever you wold like to bring, Just let us know by email (or call 843 9438) so we can assure a reasonable distribution of these items.
After the meal and introductions, I will invite Tom to take the floor and lead our discussion.
For those who would like to stay longer, the FPC Eco team will continue with a brief business meeting where we will discuss and organize our upcoming Eco-team projects. A copy of that agenda is attached. In any event, there will be time before the meeting to allow you to leave, if you wish.
We look forward to the evening and to a lively discussion of issues of importance to all of us!
Please Email either Sue or me if you plan to attend so we can get an approximate number for the meeting. (We have a big living room, so please do not hesitate to join in!)

Chair, FPC Eco-Team
