Krishna Bharat volunteered to be the direct for the engineering
office in India and later he created Google News in the aftermath of the
September 11, 2001 attacks. (Retrieved from http://www.niemanlab.org/riptide/person/krishna-bharat/
)
Bharat work on a Hilltop algorithm, called connectivity
analysis, into Google’s search engine and it would be Google’s first
patent, (Levy, p.112).

Krishna Bharat was the creator of Google News, and two of Google's algorithms, the Hilltop algorithm, which is similar to PageRank but only considers 'expert sources' for links, and the LocalRank algorithm which is based on interconnectivity of similar links.
