GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. A lecturer should have a Ph D degree in relevant field with at least 3 years teaching experience in tertiary level and must show inclination towards research and publication. Master's degree qualifications in relevant fields may be considered for Brunei Citizens. A Senior Lecturer should have at least 5 years teaching experience in tertiary teaching and a proven record in research and publication. An Associate Professor and a Professor should have outstanding academic record of teaching, research and publication and an established international reputation. An Assistant Lecturer requires a Bachelor degree in relevant fields with some experience in tertiary level teaching.
2. Ability to teach both in Arabic and English would be an advantage. Familiarity with the knowledge of computer would be an added advantage.
3. Postgraduate teaching experience will be preferred.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICE
1. The appointment will be on a permanent basis for citizens of Brunei Darussalam. For non-citizens, appointment will be by contract for a period of three years which is renewable subject to mutual agreement.
2. The annual salary range for the following posts is as follows:-
Professor: B$ 70,800
Associate Professor : B$ 64,800
Senior Lecturer : B$ 55,200 - B$ 62,400
Lecturer: B$ 33,720 - B$ 50,880
Assistant Lecturer: B$ 31,560 - B$ 45,120
3. The academic allowance is as follows:-
Professor: B$ 1000.00 per month
Associate Professor: B$ 800.00 per month
Senior Lecturer: B$ 600.00 per month
Lecturer: B$ 500.00 per month
Assistant Lecturer : B$ 200.00 per month
4. Other benefits (for contract applicant):
a). Bonus (1 month salary for Assistant Lecturer/ Lecturer/ Senior Lecturer, 1/2 month salary for Associate Professor/ Professor) after each 12 months of satisfactory service.
b). Gratuity (25% of last drawn salary x 36 months at the end of the contract).
c). Education allowance and children's passage.
d). Subsidized housing (staff contribute B$130 per month).
e). Free medical and dental services.
f). Interest - free car loan.
g). Annual leave of 48 days.
h). Passage and removal allowance.
At present there is no personal income tax in Brunei Darussalam.
